Now that I have more ...

Now that I have more experience with this, I have to modify my comments above. It's still an excellent product for the reasons I stated, but there is a problem with the battery. The original and two replacement batteries have each gone dead in about four months - not from over use, but just sitting in the safe. I called Viridian about this and they explained that there is a small memory in the chip that holds the light setting that you enter. This slowly drains the battery over a period of time. If you want to install and remove the battery each time you use it this would be no problem, but for my purpose (home defense) there is a good chance the battery will be AWOL when I need it. New CR2 batteries cost between $4 and $10 according to the internet. Viridian was very helpful when I called them and they sent me two new batteries, but they are both dead now, and they have no plans to fix this issue. Changing the flash setting only takes a second, so there is no need for a memory. Changing the chip would probably be a big deal, so I understand why they don't fix it, but I wish they would at least put a switch on it to disconnect the battery when it's not in use.

Bought it, installed it, took it to the range and it only took 3 rounds for the battery cover to pop off. I returned it and do not recommend it. Defective battery cover pops off when firing. They need to redo the battery cover immediately and recall all of them,

Got this for my S&W M&P ...

Got this for my S&W M&P 45 auto. It was easy to install and easy to adjust and fits the gun well. With Viridian's exterior treatment, it doesn't look like an add-on. It's larger than most pistol lasers, but it has a larger, longer lasting battery too. It is very bright at the indoor range. Outdoors in daylight it is much brighter than a red laser and easy to see at 25 yards but at 50 yards it is difficult to pick up. The blinking feature works well but makes it more difficult to see outdoors. I think it was a very good value for the price.
