This is my favorite all-purpose solvent. It is miles ahead of Hoppes. It works reasonably well for all types of cleaning...Powder, lead, copper, and plastic. If I could have only one solvent on my bench this would be it. For serious fouling problems you will need a specific solvent (ie: copper solvent) but this is a great do-it-all solvent.

I have Hoppe's around as a backup, but the solvent I prefer is Shooter's Choice. I actually, love the lead remover, but the solvent is a high usage product too. 4 ounce, is a nice size for the range bag. I bought a one gallon tin and refill the 4 ouncer as needed.

In response to John Jenkins and his problem with brushes being eaten by the solvent... if you spray your brushes with brake cleaner after each use they will last. It cleans the solvent off the brush and leaves no residue at all.Hope this helps.I personally use this product and very satified with the results. I follow it with Sweets 7.62 copper cleaner, again using the brake cleaner on my brushes. A light coat of oil to finish and your set. I store my rifles barrel down to eliminate any bleeding of the oil to the action and wipe the barrel dry before firing. I always fire a "drying round" before testing loads or hunting.

I read in Harold R. Vaughn's, "Rifle Accuracy Facts" that he uses a mixture of one part Kroil and two parts Shooters Choice. Hint, it needs to be kept in a container with a tight lid. I've been using this mixture to clean my rifles and handguns for the last five years and I'm satisfied with the results. I also give new barrels a light work out with Butches Bore Shine. Not too hard, I just want to smooth things out a bit, straight from the factory. I've used the above on Ruger factory stainless steel barrels (10/22 & Mini-14) as well as carbon steel and chrome lined bores with no ill effects. This mixture did NOT harm my Ruger stainless steel barrels and there was no drop off in accuracy, over four years.

I have used Shooter's Choice for several years. I found it kind of by accident, and was very happy with it. The difference-maker for me was when we cleaned a friend's "clean" 25-06 that had just been cleaned with another brand. Shooters Choice resulted in a dirty patch out of this "clean" rifle!

I've been using this on all my firearms for over a decade. It may not smell as pretty as other solvents ,but gets powder residue and softens lead, plastic and copper deposits quickly. The only drawback I have is it eats bore brushes. They're cheap though.

This product works well but takes longer than a number of similar products. It has pleasant smell. It removes lead well & does a fair job on powder residues. Unlike some other bore solvents, the chemicals in Shooter's Choice do not burn my nose. It is a good product.

I've been using this stuff for years and it works very well. It's never been an issue with any of my Chrome Moly, Stainless or Chrome Lined barrels. I have read that Sweets 7.62 and Shooters Choice should-not be used together (which stands to reason mixing chemicals and all...)

I've been using Shooter's Choice for years and haven't found anything better for general cleaning and maintenance of a firearm. If you've got serious copper fouling problems with an antique or relic military gun like a Mauser, etc. start out with a dose of Sweet's or Barne's CL10, and then finish with the Shooter's Choice. I was reading Phillip's comments on stainless bores and have never had a similar problem; I've used Shooter's Choice on several stainless BarSto pistol barrels for many years and they shoot as well as the day I bought them. Maybe it was something particular to the barrel stock, etc.?
