The Lee Carbide 3-Die Set is a great set of reloading dies for any reloader looking for a set of dies that will produce accurate ammunition for many years. Lee dies are made to exacting tolerances helping to create accurate ammunition every time they are used. Each Carbide 3-Die Set comes packaged with a carbide sizing die with decapping unit, powder through expanding die (used for expanding and belling the case mouth while charging the case with powder) and bullet seating die. Each die set comes packaged with the appropriate shellholder, powder dipper, load data sheet and plastic storage container. One of the great features of carbide dies is that they do not require the cases to be lubricated prior to use like non-carbide dies.

I try to use Lee dies whenever possible, as they produce top notch ammunition in every caliber I load. And the .44 Magnum dies are no exception. A very good friend, who is the former five time National Long Range Pistol Champion, also uses Lee dies for his competition loads. If you plan to load .44 Special ammo, use the .44 Special/Magnum dies, as the .44 Magnum dies will not adjust for the shorter .44 Special loads.

This set is a good set but it misses the fifth star because the seating die distorts the point on the Hornady 165 grain flat point. The instructions do say not to use with Speer bullets though. Overall almost as good as their collet die sets.

I've had my Lee .44 ...

I've had my Lee .44 magnum dies for about 14 yrs now & they have stood the test of time. They still load excellent ammo every time. I do have other brands of dies BUT Lee is by far the VERY BEST.

I have had the misfortune to buy 2 sets of Lee dies, 45-70 and 44Mag. The 45-70s came with a case holder that was poorly machined and would not fit into the ram on press; a small thing but an aggravation.Both die sets required a lot of modification before they would make a decent case expansion and both have very marginal bullet/crimp abilities. I have a bench loaded with red containers and always thought LEE was innovative good quality for the buck. Everything I purchased with the Lee name on in the past 2 years has been very disappointing. Must have new management maybe.

I must amend my previous review because of the error I made on the Hornady flat point I load, it's the 265 grain one, but like I said the seating die mashes the nose of it a bit. A feature I don't like. I will probably get a Hornady seating die and keep the Lee carbide sizer.

For the money, you cannot beat Lee Dies. I shoot against people that use RCBS, Dillon, Redding, Lyman, etc. . equipment. My shots are just as true or truer than theirs.
