The Surefire G2X Pro uses a high-efficiency LED virtually immune to failure since there's no filament to burn out or break that provides two light output levels: a brilliant, penetrating, perfectly pre-focused 200-lumen beam, and a 15-lumen low-output setting that lets you greatly extend the runtime per set of batteries, an invaluable option when you find yourself miles from civilization. Press the tailcap switch for momentary-on low, press further to click constant-on low, return to off and press or click on again within two seconds for high. The tough Nitrolon polymer body is smoothly sculpted for a comfortable, secure grip and resists scratches, abrasion, and corrosion. A polycarbonate micro-textured reflector delivers a comparatively wider beam with generous peripheral light.

I bought 2 of these, they ...

I bought 2 of these, they are nice! The 15/200 lumen range is perfect for 99% of general use - camping, walking, power failures - hey with over 40 hours continuous run time at 15 lumens, a box of CR123s go a looooonng way! One thing I really like is the Nitrolon body. Not only is it indestructible, it doesn't get super-hot/cold like aluminum. I also appreciate that Surefire made the default light level LOW, so when you first turn it on at night, you get 15 lumens and not a blinding 200 lumens.

I fell in love with this ...

I fell in love with this light when I purchased one for the wife as a stocking stuffer, Christmas of 2010. When I decided to retire my SF 6PL just a couple months later and get one of these, Surefire had shifted into "Ludicrous Price" thus prohibiting me from purchasing one. (Enter Midway's Wish list, handy as a shirt pocket by the way).On fresh hot batteries, the G2XP illuminates the neighbor's barn 60yds away, better than the headlights on the wife's vehicle. The vehicle headlights produce artifacts of illumination against the barn, whereas the G2XP's reflector is amazing, well focused, far bright beam, and a constant fade (no glaring artifacts) that still illuminates the neighbor's cat trying to sniper creep along the edge of the barn on the ground.Yep, there's lots a cheaper lights out there, this is the second one of these models of SF I've bought and with no regrets.

Awesome light! Brighter ...

Awesome light! Brighter than my Streamlight which is rated at 180 lumen so I believe the 200 lumen claim to be accurate . Battery life seems to be as advertised. The 1 inch grip made it very easy to mount to my rifle with spare scope rings I had laying around. I have not had a chance to really abuse it yet but it appears to be built to take whatever abuse you can give it. On the Pro model you do have to click through the dim setting to get to the bright setting. If you want instant 200 lumen blinding light you might be happier with the G2X Tactical model.
