If all you use are these CT silver tips, then they do just fine. I was able to print .323 groups at 100yrds out of my 30-06. However, what I have found is that if you shoot these and then move to something else, the next set of rounds will not group at all. I fired 4 strings of 5 of these, took a break, and then went to shoot my match loads. All I can say is that after firing these, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn if I was standing inside of it. Frankly, I think the coating does come off in the barrel as I pulled the nastiest, thickest black residue out of my barrel afterward. Again though, if this is all you shoot, then they do just fine.

Awesome hunting/target bullet

I use this bullet in a heavy barreled .308 for target shooting and mid range whitetail hunting. I am getting .5" groups at 200 yards with this rifle and have had awesome performance on deer. Most drop in their tracks, the ones that don't leave a blood trail that a blind man could feel his way down! The buck shot this year was a little over 200 yards away and weighed over 200 pounds. He dropped like a rock and died so fast that he still had grass stuck in his mouth when I skinned the head out. you cant beat performance and accuracy like that!

With all of the other fine bullets available, why do I still use these? Pros: Moly coating. - This keeps the brass buildup to a minimum and reduces drag. I have used these for so long my 3006 and 308 have developed the Moly Barrel that target shooters look for. Since I try to avoid a bronze brush, or use it very, very sparingly anyway. Accuracy - I get 1 MOA out of both rifles, sub MOA with the 308. Knock down. - Dramatic on over two dozen Whitetails, from ten yards to 340 yards. Not a single lost deer or difficult tracking. Long range ballistics, perhaps the best in a 30 caliber hunting bullet. Long range killing power. It expanded well at 340 yards and dropped a nice buck for me. Cons: These bullets expand dramatically and destroy meat unless you place your shot well. Either way the deer is going down hard. They might explode at point blank range, although mine have not done so at close range yet. I have not used this on Elk, and would reconsider for an Elk hunt. Perhaps I would go with the 180 grain version for that.

Kills deer on spot no problem. I shoot them thru my DPMS LR 308 i am zero in at 100yrds and bust chicken eggs at 200 easy. I was using hornady and now changing all cal over to this.

This is an excellent bullet, I have shot .5 or smaller groups at the range and shot a coyote at over 400 yards. It never had a chance!

Loaded these up with some IMR-4350 for a .300 Win Mag with a 26" barrel. My brother used them on some Elk in Wyoming out past 400 yards hit a young bull and made a follow up shot for good measure. Found one of the bullet on the off side of the hide and the bullet was a good mushroom without the core, but none the less a dead elk is all that counts! Try a box you will like them.

I loaded these weighing 168grs, very consistent weights! 93.2% weighed plus or minus 0.1gr. Accuracy was excellent. 165gr SST have been the only ones to shoot a tad tighter in my Rem M-721 (Manufactured in 1952) loaded with Nosler's load data/Nos Manual #5. Hit a 185Lbs. spike Mule Deer at 333 yards away! Exit wound not as large as those reported in the posts here, and not as much blood shot as I was expecting too! Excellent bullet. Including sighting in and a few other shots the barrel at the end of the season was incredibly clean!!!! May be something to the coating after all?

Seems like most have had great luck with this bullet but me. I tried to replace the 168 grain HPBT in my bull barrel Remington 700 308 so I could hunt with it. 1st three rounds grouped 1/2 inch. next two group at 1/2 but two inches lower. The next two group well, but away from the other set. I figured my rifle did not like the bullet. Later I tried it in a browning a bolt in 30-06 and same thing 1st two ok group, next three .91, and the next 2 .50 but 2 inches lower at 100 yards. must be neither of my guns like it.

I used a 30'06, sighted in at 200 yards, only one shot with this bullet to take down a massive 365 SCI point Red Stag at 130 yards. Very impressive performance. Followed up with a 175 yard shot on a Wild Goat with a similar one shot and down pass through the upper chest.

This is a very deadly bullet, but it also causes massive tissue damage. These bullets literally explode upon impact. I shot a whitetail doe this year and it created a near softball sized exit wound. I was recently comparing different bullet expansions and after shooting through plastic water jugs the only remains of this bullet I found were small slivers of the jacket. I will no longer use this bullet for deer due to the damage it causes.
