I didn't find it very helpful. If you can read a schematic and are mechanically inclined this might not be worth your time.Also seems a little dated it doesn't really cover the CAR or mid-length system.

THIS product's schematics and parts list are very poor. The copying and scanning is of poor quality and hard to read.

This is a good beginner's ...

This is a good beginner's video for someone who wants to know how to breakdown and clean the AR-15 rifle. It is not as detailed as "How to Build an AR-15 from a Parts Kit", but it does get the job done for a basic instruction video. It is an older video, seemingly originally on VHS. The instructor is very competent, but it seems like there was no scripting. It seemed more like "OK, we need you to break down this rifle and tell us about it while you do it and we're going to tape it." The Midway Gunsmithing the AR-15" is a better value.

Watching this course has ...

Watching this course has the same "feel" as sitting in a buddy's shop and have him show you how the AR15 goes together and functions. If you are looking for a highly technical treatment, you will be disappointed. If you like a comfortable, informal learning setting, this course is for you.The course covers the basic AR15, not all the varients of e.g. free-float tubes, adjustable stocks, match triggers. But if you are mechanically inclined and you understand the basics, those are not hard to do.Since getting this video a few years ago, I have assembled a number of AR's, both uppers and lowers, with very satisfying results. Though originally filmed on tape and transfered to dvd, the selectable chapters make it possible to go back and review specific segments from time to time, which I do and find helpful.One thing to be aware of is that, if you do not know how to take the front sight post off the barrel, you will NOT learn it from this video. This course is more concerned with assembly. If you get AGI's video on complete assembly and disassembly it will show you how to remove and reinstall the front sight post without common mistakes. Unfortunately, if you have the Armorer's Course, everything else in the Disassembly / Reassembly video will be redundant.I was puzzled by some of the posts that "dinged" the AGI videos. I have serveral of them, and by watching have become both confident and competent in complete assembly / disassembly and modification of those particular guns.The course will not make you an "Expert in all things AR." But it will give you the basic knowledge, which, with a little study on your own, will put you way ahead of the pack of average AR operators, or even those who can assemble only the lower receiver.

Wanting to get to know my ...

Wanting to get to know my AR-15 rifle better, I purchased this and 2 other DVD titles at the same time. This is an older video - probably originally on VHS (there is a disclaimer at the beginning about the original recording being on analog equipment). The production quality is low by today's standards (seems like there was no scripting and little editing - just a video of someone building a rifle and talking about it as he went along (common mistakes included). The gunsmith assembling the rifle is clearly very competent. The content seems solid and all the steps included in the "MidwayUSA Gunsmithing the AR-15" are included but without all the extra and fancy tools. I think that the Midway (GunTec) video is a better value and overall a better product.

Of all the AGI Armorer's ...

Of all the AGI Armorer's Courses I own (currently six), this is the worst. That's not to say it's a "bad" video--there is a wealth of information contained in it--but it was disappointing by comparison to others in the AGI lineup. It leaves a lot of questions unanswered, and the disassembly procedure is incomplete. However, having said that, the DVD probably contains more information than I'll ever need or use, so it's definitely worth the investment if you want to maintain your AR on a more detailed basis than simply field stripping.

Being an AR-15 novice I purchased this video so I could learn about assembly and disassembly of this rifle. I watched it twice and it worked very well for me. If you have a basic knowledge of the AR-15 and some mechanical skill you may be disappointed with this product. After seeing it I do not think I will watch it many more times.
