This die is used to charge small capacity rifle cases ranging from 22 caliber to 30 caliber with a minimum case length of 1.403" to a maximum case length of 2.015" (Ex: 22 Hornet to the 308 Winchester) using the Auto-Disk Powder Measure. It works the same as the pistol powder through expanding dies except it doesn't expand the case mouth. Rifle case expansion is normally done in the sizing die. Steel die comes packaged in a plastic storage case. Shellholder sold separately.

Works great for charging 223. The only problem I have is that the 2 long screws included in the kit to extend the base to fit the double disks were not long enough. Easy fix, but it should have been right from the factory.

This is the trick that made my turret press come all together. Warning, use an old case to adjust your die so that you do not crinkle a good case. It works like a charm once adjusted. This works perfectly with a 35 Remington case even though it is not listed to work. As before, use an old case to adjuat it so you do not crush a good case.Thanks LEE and MidwayUSA..

This really works great for rifle size cartridges with the Lee Perfect Powder Measure. But for larger cases, even my 6mm Rem, the available volume of the disks is limiting, even with the Double Disk kit. I just select a disk with half the needed volume, and cycle it twice! The charge weight seldom varies more than 0.2 gr. I run the completed loads across the scale to be absolutely sure I don't have half-loads.

This die is another great value from Lee but, as is sometimes the case with Lee products, a small poorly executed detail keeps the score down from five stars. I used this die with the Lee Auto-Disk Powder Measure and Double Disk kit but I kept getting terrible consistency in my load charges (23.5gr +/- 0.7 gr) and I thought I'd have to resign myself to only use starting loads with the Auto Disk Powder Measure tool. I thought the Auto Disk was the problem and, seeing that the Lee Auto Disk Powder Measure Update Kit contains a valve assembly with an elastomer wiper, I spent the additional $16 and tried it but it was no better than my original Auto Disk! I finally figured out that the bore of the actuator/drop tube inside this rifle powder charging die was causing the problem. The entire inside of the die, including the powder path, had been lubricated with oil during manufacturing. The inside of the die is impossible to see once it's installed, of course, and some powder grains were sticking to the inside of the die. Sometimes more grains would stick than other times and result in a short case load. Sometimes additional grains would become unstuck and drop into a case. Sometimes grains would fall on the floor when the press turret moved. I cleaned out the oil and I think I've now solved the problem. I checked all three of the charging dies that I purchased and they all have oily bores.

I'm using this product with my auto disk powder measure and Lee turret press to reload .308 winchester. It works great, next best thing to a progressive press, very fast.

An excellent die for ...

An excellent die for charging rifle cases on a turret press. You can fit the Lee funnel on top of the die when charging with powder dippers. Or you can use the Lee Auto Disk Dispenser w/ the double disk kit for case activated powder charging up to 30-06. This method is very convenient especially if you have progressive or turret press. Charging is automatic when the case touches the drop tube inside the die. Lastly, if you own a Lyman #55 measure, this unit with its drop tube fits the top of the Lee die w/o modifications so you can charge even larger cases. The thing is, this Lee charging die is so cheap, I got three permanently fitted to my turret heads for 3 rifle cases which I load. Lee has the best charging die IMO!

Works absolutely flawlessly within the limiting constraints of case size -- 100% satisfied. Only wish they made both a smaller and bigger one. Smaller unit of same basic design for cases down to .17 caliber and bigger unit for cases up to the big Weatherby magnums.

This die made the Auto-Disk Pro (with DD kit) very handy to use with rifle cartridges 30-06 and smaller. I use it for light loads with the 30-06, normal loads with the 257 Roberts, 30-30, and .223. It has made my turret press much faster and more useable. The autodisk loads are very repeatable--my only regret is that it won't work for short fat cases like the 25 WSSM.If you have an autodisk powder measure I can't recommend this rifle die highly enough.
