Almost perfect

Any square post will give you a sharper picture than a round post, but you're trading off the finer adjustment (5-points) for more coarse (4-points/revolution). I should probably mic my standard post to see if this post, at 0.070 wide, is the same width at the top as a standard sight (which is 8 MOA, incidentally). Still, this is the only way to get a 100 or 200yd zero in addition to your "8/3" setting with an A2 upper and a non-F-marked sight tower without your standard sight hanging on by a thread. I like to use a revized IBZ, where 300 is 3 clicks up. All said, it works well!

For Bushmasters, accurate shooting at ranges less than 300yds requires this sight on the target A2/A3 models. Stock A2 sights go 300-800yds. Stock A3 sights go 300-600yds. Raising the front sight lowers the impact of the bullet. Without an extended front sight, you can't set the elevation low enough to take your normal point of aim at ranges less than 300yds, thus requiring you to use "Kentucky windage."

The only reason anyone would need this post is if you have a standard A2 front sight tower with a flat top upper receiver. Colt flat top upper rifles will have a "F" stamped on the front sight tower indicating the sight post is elevated 0.040" higher than the standard A2. Therefore, the taller front post is not required.However, when using a detachable carry handle on the A3/A4 upper with a standard A2 front sight tower, a taller post is required to obtain the proper zero adjustment. Otherwise you may max out the elevation adjustment trying to move the POI down until the post comes out of the tower!
