I looked at a lot of spotting scopes, mostly bigger at our local store. It was the detail that sold me on this one. While looking at parked cars from a good distance, this was the only one that I was able to read license plates with. Small, compact, very clear and exceptionable portable. I could hold it steady at lower power while bracing against objects because of its light weight. Range use was good with 22cal just beyond 200 yds. The only real negative was focusing distant objects at high power. The focus ring was very hard to fine focus. Overall, a great little spotting scope.

Use it more for spotting game, I mounted it on my Stoney Point polecat. Easy to move around and not have to worry about legs being in the way. At the highest setting I had no issues with focus. Everything crystal clear on sunny and cloudy days. Scanning through the woods you are able to pick out details most of the time I missed. I was also able to set the power back lower and not have to adjust the focus.A great product from Leupold, thats why I keep coming back to them.

For the price great!! In this price range there is no equal. Small enough to put in your pack and climb mountains with. 15-30 power will cover most needs for a spotting scope in a hunting situation. At the rifle range bullet holes are hard to see at 300 yards, but if you want to look at animals while you're hunting you will love this scope. Only complaint is, when at 30x magnification the focus knob is hard to focus with. Overall very good piece of gear!

Decided to go with a name I trust after being disappointed with a cheaper brand scope. No problem seeing .223 holes at 100 yards, even on cloudy, rainy days.Needs a steady tripod to avoid the shakes when the wind blows. Overall another fine quality, made in USA, Leupold product.
