I purchased the RangeMaster 750 to measure bullet weights because it's a real pain to do with a Balance Beam scale. I was a little hesitant to get this one because of some of the reviews I've read concerning constantly having to re-calibrate the scale. I've found that if I leave it ON all the time (with the AC-Adapter) that all the re-calibration problems go away. Before I begin to use it, I check it and it's always Zeroed and then I use the included CAL WEIGHTS just to be sure. The scale is always dead-on accurate and very seldom needs calibration. This scale is definitely worth the price, I just wish I had bought this one sooner. To sum up, battery life is not that long but I don't use batteries any longer, just leave it turned-on with the AC Adapter or give it at least an hour to warm up and settle down and this scale will perform very well for you. Get one, you'll be glad you did! Just be sure to get it from MidwayUSA in the rare case you may have a problem, their Return Policy can't be beat anywhere.Thanks MidwayUSA for stocking this item!

I ordered this 750 to ...

I ordered this 750 to replace a worn out mechanical beam scale. The first unit worked flawlessly for one evening, then would not calibrate. RCBS replaced it at no cost. However, the replacement failed to calibrate right out of the box. I have used RCBS products for years with satisfaction and confidence. This scale does not do RCBS any good. I am amazed at the number of excellent reviews. It is a guess, but I'm betting the quality control folks took a break, or the unit was farmed out to a different manufacturer (from the early ones) who does not have RCBS' best interests at heart.

Product less than 3yrs old. Barely been used but now it won't work. Liked the scale while it worked but very disappointed with the quality.

After seeing some of the negative reviews on this scale, I decided to add my 2 cents, since I have had my Rangemaster 750 for 3 years now. I'm not sure if I need to, but every time I sit down for a reloading session, I calibrate the scale (I mean, heck, it takes all of about 45 seconds to do). If I immediately start using the scale, it will climb 0.01 grain if I let the charge sit there for a while. Don't know why it does this, you set the charge on the pan, then wait about a minute, then the reading will climb 0.01 grain... Once the scale has been on 30 - 45 minutes, this doesn't happen anymore. I suppose this means you should let it warm up for 30 minutes or so before using it. I use mine for my match-grade competition rifle rounds, which I hand-weigh each individual charge, and my rounds are always within .0075 gr. of each other, even though the scale is supposed to only be accurate to within .01 gr. My old/backup scale that I use to double-check this digital scale is a Redding beam scale. It is extremely precise, although when you are weighing each individual charge, it takes FOREVER on a beam scale! Buying this digital scale has saved me thousands of hours reloading! I also use it for my +P .357 Mag loads, where an error of .5 gr. can cause overpressure problems, and the scale hasn't failed me yet! Mine works on the 9V battery, but I've never used it without the A/C adapter plugged in. Also, I have heard many people say that the junky PACT BBK II scale's internal parts are IDENTICAL to the Rangemaster 750's... well let me be the first to disprove this! A friend of mine bought a used BBK-2 for $70, and allowed me to open the plastic body... the internal circiut boards, resistors, capacitors, literally EVERYTHING is different from my Rangemaster 750's internals. So, there :)

Bought one of these 20 years ago, worked flawlesly but became unstable after time, understandable, I was happy with it so bought another one in June, what a piece of junk. It will not hold zero and consistently jumps around, completly undependable. Have already bought another scale which can weigh to 0.02 grains and is extreemly responsive to trickler add ins. Watch out for RCBS, they are not customer friendly. To get this scale replaced I would have to PAY to send it to them and PAY to have it returned. No more RCBS for me.

I had the same problems as other customers here, the zero wanders by as much as .5 grain. Called RCBS, learned how to reset the scale by tapping on the platen, this has to be done over and over again, what a piece of Junk!!! It defeats the whole purpose of being a precision measuring device, might as well have flushed my $120 down the toilet. I will never by RCBS products again, as I have had trouble with their press, and case trimmer. I guess some things have worked ok, like their hand priming tool and powder thrower. But a 50% failure rate for Chinese junk??? I suppose I will go with nothing but Redding from here out.

Ordered this unit based on reviews here on Midway. Unit showed up in pristine shape. Plugged in the scale and it wouldn't power on. It will power up with the 9 volt option, but I believe the transformer or connections are faulty. RCBS should up their Chinese quality control as this unit proudly displays the made in China gold stamp of approval. I'm not happy and this unit will be going back to Midway and I will be trying another brand.

Bought the first one and it worked for one reloading session then it would not cal. Sent it back and received a new one and the first time I tried to use it, it powered up like normal but when you pushed the cal button nothing happened. Turned unit off and back on and now all I get is 02008. JUNK

I have used mine for almost a year now. It's very accurate and consistent. I let it warm up before calibrating and it holds zero very well.

Bought this scale three years ago. Year and a half ago we started having issues with scale not holding zero. However, the problem randomly went away until the last 5 months. Scale will not hold zero; had a set of 20 rounds of IMR-4064 that started off correctly but by the end of the 20 was off by 0.5 to 0.8 grains per case. Recalibrated and it happened again. With scale two years out of warranty, will ditch this RCBS and go back to old manual scale until we find a better digital replacement.
