These are remarkably ...

These are remarkably comfortable headsets, easily fitted to the head and surprisingly effective. When turned off, they work like regular sound muffs cutting sound by some 28 dB. When on, they provide good sound which cuts the noise impact immediately. The one thing I took note of was that it took almost a second for the sound to return. This is fine to ensure hearing protection but doesn't make for uninterrupted conversation. This emphasizes that the electronics work to amplify sound, shutting down the amplification during high impulse sounds. I give the set an A for shutdown and a C for rampup to regular sound. For compact, good value, hearing protection I would recommend these. For conversation, I would get a cellphone.

I bought these due to the 33db NRR rating, price, and they were made by Browning. I was disappointed in them due to the fact they did not lower the noise levels for gun fire the way an older set of (HL ear muffs did which were not electronic and rated only 24db). This was with the electronics turned off or on. They also had a very loud snap when they turned on and off with the gun fire. They were comfortable to wear. I returned them and bought the Peltor Tactical 7S and have been completely satisfied. Thanks Midway for the great customer service.

These are not made to fit ...

These are not made to fit a full-size adult male head. Even when fully extended, I could not get them down far enough to cover my whole ear. That's without a hat. I think I wear about a 7 1/2 hat size, so my head is not unusually large. I think these would be fine for a child or most women.

These are great electronic earmuffs. I have no static like I have had with other brands. Great buy for the price. I will be getting more of these Browning Midas muffs.

This is a quality product ...

This is a quality product and not nearly the price of others. It does cut out a great deal but hey that's protection. Very clear sound and great for teaching others to shoot; they can hear your instructions! Battery life is great; even if you forget to turn them off for a few days... still have the same batteries in mine after several months. If the cut of was a little less distracting I'd give them a five star rating.

For the money these ...

For the money these electronic ear muffs offer good hearing protection. I wanted as much db reduction as possible yet still be able to hear. From time to time my wife goes with me to the range. At those times I wear these and let her wear my Pro Ears Gold. The Pro Ears electronics are better and also offer mic adjustment (via a jumper wire) but they're 3 times the price of these Brownings. If you don't want to shell out the $$$ for the Pro Ears then I'd buy these. While the electronics aren't as good as the Pro Ears, they do offer the same hearing protection. Because of the cost / value of the Brownings, I gave them a 5 star rating.

The sound cuts out a lot, ...

The sound cuts out a lot, they just go off and then come back on. They are however great for training my grandkids because they can hear my instructions better than with regular muffs. They are comfortable to wear and fairly well built. If they didn't cut out so much I would have given them a four VS a three. You will be able to hear range commands much easier. The battery life is good I even left them on for several days and they are still working just like new. I will buy another pair of electronic muffs, not sure if I'll buy these or go for something that doesn't cut out as much or recovers faster.

Sound volume was clear ...

Sound volume was clear enough to hear people walking forty feet away, talking at 60 feet plus. The muffling of the muzzle blast from a .204 Ruger was excellent.

The Browning Electronic ...

The Browning Electronic Earmuffs are the best bang for the buck. They have a higher NNR rating than some electronic earmuffs of much higher prices. They are comfortable and functional. I have had some electronic muffs that give an electronic interference buzz when around other electronic devices and the Browning muffs do not. This is a great buy.
