The Tipton Universal Bore Guide protects the bore, chamber and action of your rifle by properly alligning the cleaning rod and reducing solvent overflow.

Three interchangeable tips cover most centerfire calibers from 17 to 460.

Note: The tips insert into the chamber and chamber dimensions do not directly correlate to bore diameter, select the tip that provides the best fit for any given cartridge.

Small fits most cartridges .17-.24 (up to 6mm)
Medium fits most cartridges .25-.30 (6.5mm- 7.62mm)
Large fits most cartridges over .30 (over7.62mm)

Compatible with cleaning rods up to .425" diameter.

Adjustable position sliding collar for bolt actions works with most centerfire rifles. Fits bolt diameters .695" or larger.

AR-15 collar fits securely inside receiver of AR-15 style rifles.

It's not a custom fit, but works in all my bolt actions and my AR's except for my Savage 17HMR. Too large to fit and I bent/moved my extractor trying to use it, but that was my fault

The most compelling reason to use this guide is it provides a "port" to drip the solvent onto the patch, which is the only place you want the solvent to go! It's not as easy to use as it could be, however. The chamber adapter usually gets left behind in the chamber after use and must be fished-out or pushed-out somehow. It would be better if the adapters screwed onto the guide tube instead of being a loose press fit. Also, I have several cleaning rods and none of them are long enough to clean a long action rifle with a 24" barrel. A very long cleaning rod is required for anything over 22 inches.

Yeah, you need to take care when using it...I can see how it is easy to break the plastic portions. It does exactly what it should - keep solvent from action area. I have a very long rod, so no problems cleaning out my 1903-A3 and M-1 Garand at all.

The thing is great,low cost,simple fits multiple cals.Bought a second as a spare and my brother [borrowed]it.As a part time gunsmith bbl cleaning is happening on nearly every job.Still need to order another.

To be honest, for what I paid for it, I cant really complain. If your looking for something to really guide your cleaning rod, buy one for the specific chamber. For an all around guide, its a great value.

Mine just arrived, and ...

Mine just arrived, and I've only used it once for an AR15, but it worked great for that. The collars and tube are aluminum. Only the red tips are plastic. Seems to work just fine, but I'll be needing a longer cleaning rod for my longer barreled rifles.

I've been using mine for 5 years now and the only thing that knocks off a star is the plastic collar. It'll strip if you bear down just a bit too hard. Mine stripped years ago but I put in some JB Weld and kept turning the greased screw in and out until the JB Weld hardened. It works now but I barely tighten it anymore.I wish the collar were made out of steel, aluminum or a much better plastic.

This bore guide arrived today, but it will not fit my Savage Mark II bolt .22. It is slightly large. The quality of the product is very good and for the price I paid, it should do well. Beats paying $60.00-70.00 for a simple tool I will keep it in my go to cleaning gear. As usual, great Midway service and products!
