This is an excellent product to be used on Remington 700 BDL rifles with floor plates. It works well and looks nice installed. It makes the rifle look like it takes magazines. A 308 rifle will hold a total of 7 rounds. The polymer is very tough and durable. I have installed many of them on the Remington 700 police rifles The only problem I have had with them is that there is a little metal plate in the bottom of the magazine that you slide the flat spring under that holds it down and keeps it from flying away when you open the extended magazine floor plate. It will sometimes break loose from the plastic tabs holding it in. When that happens you will need to use some JB weild to glue it back in, use very little on the plastic tabs and use a mini vise to hold it until it drys. It also helps to bend the spring straight before you slide it under the metal plate. All in all a very good product for a very good price that you will be please with how it looks and functions.

I purchased the product thinking it would do what it said it would do in my REM 700 .308 SPS.1. Will it load 7+1 .308 rounds YES!2. Will it camber when loaded to capacity NO!3. Did I take it to a Gun Smith YES!4. Was the Gun Smith able to get it to work NO!5. He said that it is not designed to work the way it is stated to work.6. I do not recommend it, it just does not work, and it is just not worth the $20.00 to try to make it work.7. I do not recommend this to anyone.8. Will I pay $300 to $400 for one of the other solutions NO!9. I will just be happy with 4 1 rounds.

The 6th round will cause the follower to tilt, which messes up the angle of EVERY round in the magazine. The push-feed mechanism of the Remington 700 is very sensitive to how the top round is presented, and once the follower tilts, the cartridges will not feed reliably. If I only load it up to 5 rounds, they feed reliably and very smoothly because of the reduced magazine tension. I gave it 3 stars because it is an improvement over the stock BDL floorplate (+1 capacity and added smoothness) but it fell short of advertised. Also, it looks pretty cool on my rifle.

Works well on my 308 SPS ...

Works well on my 308 SPS Tactical, but required some filing of the back corner to fit properly and spring bending so the floor plate is level. The resulting capacity is 6 (not 7). So you only get 2 extra rounds, but it's still worth it to me for the low cost. Looks kind of cool too. Good not great, but I'd do it again. I gave this item 5stars for my 223 SPS for almost double the stock capacity (9 rounds) and no spring bending required.

Great item and outstanding value. Feels very sturdy, and on a synthetic stock the plastic doesn't look out of place. The assembly was straight forward enough, and it would be no problem going back to the stock set up. There was some light filing required of the back edge of the Xtender to open/close properly, but it now functions perfectly on my 223 SPS Tactical. Its nice having the extra rounds at the range. More time shooting, less time loading!

Installation on my SPS Tactical .223 took about 5 minutes total. Had absolutely none of the problems mentioned with the mag spring retainer. Holds the advertised 9 rounds. Before installation, had feed issues with this rifle. Post-installation, it feeds and functions flawlessly!! Great job TCM, thanks to Midway for carrying this product and for the quick service.

Like many others who purchased this product, I was looking to extend the magazine capacity of my Remington 700 SPS Tactical in 308. It did that, however, only up to 6 rounds. I can load 7, but the bolt gives me a time trying to catch the first round which is less than desireable. Especially in the event where getting that first round off in a timely manner could mean the difference between life and death for yours truly. However, 6 rounds load perfectly and feed flawlessly. So after the struggle to get the roll pin back in, I was simply happy to have my rifle back in working order with an increase of 2 extra rounds.For the price of this versus a detachable mag-type floor plate, I'll take an extra 2 rounds for a 1/10th of the price of the cheapest of detachable mag kits. Not to mention there was no modification needed to the stock where the detachable mag kits require inletting. I dinged the product by one star due to my mag capacity not going up to the promised 7 despite my use of JB weld and a brand new magazine spring as others on here had recommended. The product itself is extremely rugged and is now a permanent fixture on my rifle.

This is a great, inexpensive way to add a few more rounds without dishing out the $350 for a drop magazine set-up. You may have to grab a file and trim a little plastic - but it took less than 15 minutes to do the install job. Very easy. Well worth the $20.00

Pros: 1) Looks cool2) Slight improvement in magazine capacity3) Relatively cheap (compared to getting a detachable mag box)Cons: 1) Installation is a pain! Mind you I am not terribly mechanically inclined, but it's not like there were any warnings in the instructions that this needed to be done by a professional gunsmith. First, I had a heck of a time removing the floor plate hinge pin. When I finally got it out (with a lot more force than I think should have been necessary) I could not get it back in. I thought it might be a manufacturing defect on the pin so I called Remington and they told me the trigger guard is not meant to be disassembled. At this point I couldn't even get the factory floor plate back on and was about to order a whole new trigger guard, but I ended up just filing down the hinge pin until I finally got it re-inserted. Next problem-- as mentioned by others, the fit of the box was not right and I could not close it. Again, I busted out the file and went to work until it would close. After that it seemed ok, stays shut firmly.2) Feeding issues. I was only able to feed 6 rounds. The 7th round will fit in the magazine, but it goes crooked and jams up whenever I try to feed it, and I end up having to release the box and start over, so I gave up on that real quick. Rounds 1-6 seem to feed just fine.3) Minor issue, but once you put the spring into the extended floorplate, good luck getting it out if you ever want to go back to the factory floor plate, you'll probably need to buy a new spring.Conclusion:Decent product I guess. Sort of does what it's advertised to do, but not entirely well, and not without a lot of trouble and effort up front. I would not buy it again. The extra 2 rounds is just not worth the hassle and the risk of messing up your action. Stick with the factory floor plate. The Remington 700 is a legendary rifle, why risk ruining it with a marginally functional aftermarket modification?

Had really high hopes for this product after reading a number of great reviews but had bad luck with mine. The mag xtender wasn't even close to fitting properly, and after a great deal of filing/cutting it would still barely fit/stay closed. Great idea, but very unimpressed with the sizing.
