Product Information

The Tipped TSX features a 100-percent copper body with rings cut into the shank. A polymer tip boosts the ballistic coefficient, improves long-range ballistics and provides fast expansion. The four razor sharp cutting petals double the bullet diameter making delivering "dead right there" performance.

These revolutionary bullets from Barnes are made of 100% copper and contain no lead. Barnes recommends initially seating bullets 0.050" off the lands. Best accuracy will be found from 0.030" to 0.070" depending on the rifle. This is not loaded ammunition.

I took handloads of this bullet with my Rem 700 XCR in 338 RUM on my first African Safari and all I have to say is that it performed! First take was a Gemsbok which soaked up the kill shot and the 2nd shot (I just didn't want to walk up to those spears to see if he was gone) at less than 75 yards. My other 4 harvests were through-and-through shots. The best example of this bullets accuracy would be both my Blesbok and my Zebra. The Blesbok was taken at about 175 yards braced off the truck, dropped where he stood, left shoulder, heart, and both lungs; in other words, right where I aimed. My Zebra was at 200 yards off-hand about less than 2" below the center of the fatal triangle; got the left shoulder, heart and left lung. Back at the lodge, the internal damage was incredible. This bullet performed as advertised, or actually better in my opinion. This safari was my first big game hunt ever and I will now only hunt big game with my Rem 700 XCR and the .338 RUM with THIS bullet!

Brand new Winchester ...

Brand new Winchester Extreme .338 Win Mag - loading RL-19 with the 225 TTSX. Magazine length limited cartridge OAL, so I just set the bullets to max length in the mag; at least 0.070 of the lands. Load shot 0.590" for 3 shots at 100. Awesome!! No chrony to get speed.

Been using these bullets in my 340 Weatherby. These bullets are flying at 3030fps and are dialed in at 0.5 inches at 300yards, that's right 300 yards on a completely stock Weatherby deluxe, just make sure that you weigh and separate the bullets by weight, there is a deviation.

Very accurate in my 338-378 Weatherby, under 1" group for 5 shots, hitting around 3250 fps. Same accuracy as the 225 TSX, but these have a higher BC.

This bullet meets all expectations for accuracy and impressive penetration. In one of my 338 WMs I had to seat the bullet .07" off the lands (3.30-3.31 OAL) in order to get repeatable sub-MOA. Velocity matched 'book', slightly over, in one 338. In the other it was under, but so are all bullets in that rifle. On game in Africa we have only limited experience so far, but three 'pass-through', no recovered bullets. Most importantly, from some penetration testing and previous experience, I would be willing to confidently use this bullet on cape buffalo, though the 250 flat nose solid needs to be in the magazine and the 250 TSX would be better if being used specifically on buffalo. For all around Africa use, this 225 TTSX at 2800-2850 is about as good as it gets.

I've been shooting the 225 gr TTSX for about a year now and get great Sub Moa accuracy from by 340 Wby Deluxe. I load it to 3030 fps for hunting with .75 inch accuracy. Took a elk at 200 yds this year. Bullet destroyed the top of the heart, all the big blood vessels and the bottom of the lungs. The elk hopped 3-4 times and fell over dead. Very effective performance.

Loaded with IMR 4350 and seated .050 off the lands proved to be highly accurate at 2,927 fps. Reloader 19 was also very accurate but a little bit slower at 2,821 fps. Accuracy of the TTSX bullets was very, very good in a powerful gun such as 338 Win. Mag. A+ for Barnes on these ones!

I shot a 5x5 elk at 400 yards he was knocked down upon impact with complete pass through. The next day I Shot a cow at about 300 yards with the same results, as soon as hit she started rolling down the mtn. Great bullet esp. in 338 RUM.

In my Remington Sendero ...

In my Remington Sendero 338 Ultra Mag and using Reloader 22, I was able to fire a 5 shot group of 3/8 " at 100 yards. My load velocity was measured at 3020 fps. Taking this load on an Elk hunt this October.
