When I received the Freedom Reaper mount from Midway I was very pleased with the fit and finish, no tooling marks, and the anodizing was very uniform and looked great. On the DNZ website they tell you that lapping the rings isn't necessary but I've learned from past experience that even some of the supposedly "best" rings on the market can be off. I chucked the mount up on my jig, coated the lapping bar with 600 grit and under light tension made a few passes with it. after removing the bar and wiping the rings off I was really surprised to see nice even crosshatching on both rings, top and bottom. I mounted a Burris FF II tactical 3x9 in it, leveled it, torqued the ring screws to 15 inch lbs. I then mounted it on a Stag 15 flat top and torqued the mount bolts to 30 in lbs. The next day at the range shooting from a bench off a bi pod and a rear sand bag my first 3 rnd group printed about 4" high and 2" left. A few clicks later and I had a nice little 1" 5 rnd group clustered in the X ring. I don't know about anybody else but that's about as easy as it gets for me. I put about 100 rnds through it at different ranges and the POI stayed right where it was supposed to. That night I took the scope off the stag then re mounted it at 30 in lbs. A few days later back at the range I could not notice any POI change at 100 yds. This is a great mount. It looks good, Quality is at least as good as some of the other big name mounts costing twice as much or more. It allows you to mount optics on a flat top far enough forward for proper head position, and at the right height for a proper cheek weld. It's not a cheap mount, but it's worth more than what they charge for it.

Seems to be a strong ...

Seems to be a strong mount but does not retain zero after removing and replacing like the regular DNZ Mount. We mounted it on a Bushmaster 24" varminter that we use as a ranch rifle riding in tractors and UTV's and it has retained zero through rough use. Certainly a good choice if weight is not an issue.
