Product Information

The Ultimate Sniper Stock features a completely adjustable cheekpiece and buttpad for a perfect fit. A rear elevation screw, coupled with an angled forend, provides precise elevation adjustments. Includes flush mounted sling swivel studs on the left and right, front and rear. The aluminum bedding block free-floats up to a 1-1/4" bull barrel while the 2-1/2" wide forearm provides a steady shot. Length of pull is 13-1/4" and can be adjusted in 3/4", 1/2" or 1/4" increments using spacers (sold separately). The bottom of stock is heavily serrated behind pistol grip and has a fine elevation adjustment knob that is removable. Angled forend makes bi-pod legs less likely to snag when folded. Durable polymer construction with a lifetime guarantee.

I have had this stock on my Savage 12fvss 300wsm for almost three years. I rate it 5 stars for my type of hunting, BUT it may not be for everyone! The reason felt recoil is down so low with this stock (as posted in other reviews) is because its HEAVY! With a Burris Black Diamond 6-24-50mm, a Harris Low Swivel Bipod, and about a 3" thick Allen sling, it tips the bathroom scales at 17lbs. Im in my 20s, and that gets old quick carrying around. They gave you a notch in the fore end to carry it suit case style too, but savages heavy barrel isnt heavy enough for it to balance there. Choate recommends epoxying lead in the fore end to balance it out (havent tried it yet). The cheek piece has to be removed (one Philips screw) to run the cleaning rod down the barrel also. The butt pod is very quick and easy to adjust, but I made a longer aluminum one on a lathe so the gun sits more level on the ground when using the bipod. With that being said, it is still the best thing ever for accurate, long range, prone hunting that I have ever seen. Just by installing the stock my groups went from 7/8" to 1/2"! Just by adjusting the buttstock recoil pad all the way up, those 1/2" groups went to 3/8". Worth every cent if weight doesnt "out weigh" accuracy. Very good value for all the features you get, solid as a rock, It is on the heavy side My savage 10 in .308 is pushing 17 pounds but I only carry it from truck to bench,The grip stippling is quite aggressive but a lil sanding took care of that.

Hands down one of the best stocks made. If you're worried about it being heavier than a normal stock you need to train harder and man up. The extra effort is well worth making a great shot.

I put this stock on my Savage 300 Win Mag and my groups at 300 yards easily were cut in 1/2. This was not the selling point though. The length of pull is now longer and the pad a little stiffer and oddly enough softens the kick. I can shoot through a whole box in a sitting with no flinch, and have not hit myself with the scope since. I can even shoot a whole box lying prone in a T-shirt with a bi-pod hooked up front. Major John knows his stocks. Buy this product if you want to shoot better groups. It's awful heavy to be using on stalks and hikes. Keep it in your blind or on a bench. If hiking with this rifle, I rigged double straps, after a mile it feels like a full pack. If your an Elk at 500 yards though, be scared, very scared.

Awesome stock for the money. Pretty heavy though, so don't expect to be lugging it through the woods all day. If you are looking for a stock to shoot at the range, or off a bench at varmints, get it. The weight isn't so bad that you cannot carry it with you, but forget shooting unsupported. Also, on the left side of the stock, the side that the pictures NEVER show, is a stupid logo. I wonder why Choate put this on there if they won't even show it in pictures. I am still thinking of a way to get that off. Otherwise, by far one of the best stocks around.

It is bigger and heavier than it looks. Fit very well in my 12fvss. No change in accuracy, but more comfortable to shoot after I made all the adjustments. My only complaint is that the stippling in grip areas are very rough. You almost need gloves on to carry it on those surfaces.

The Choate stock is one of the best investments I could have picked for my 12FLV in 308win. (L is for left-handed). The stocks barrel channel leaves plenty of room for the heavy barrel, with space left over for the "free float". The aluminum bed holds the rifle very very firmly.... Ergonomics is great, with adjustable "lop" using the butt spacers. After I installed the stock and a Leupy 6.5-20x50 LRT, I was able to shoot my best group ever at 100yrds, a .16", (handload, using 150gr Nosler green-tip and Varget). Well worth the money....

I put this stock on my savage model 10 in 7mm-08. Easy to install, and good, solid, construction. A little on the heavy side which decreased my recoil, but I have found that I can keep it more stable on offhand shots then the factory stock. I used the larger of the two provided cheek pieces to give me great cheek weld. This stock also allows for adjustable length of pull. The interchangeable T rail on the front allows for different bipod setups for range and hunting uses. This stock also allows for more than enough float on the barrel,(1-1/4 in. channel) My groups have tightened up because of the adjustments available on this stock versus the factory using reloaded 139 gr. Horn SSTs. The Grips are extremely aggressive, which is good if the shooter is wearing gloves. 1/8th inch serrations along the bottom of the stock are nice for those who shoot off benches or bags. There are flush mounted swivel studs on both sides of the stock for those of us who use slings. For the price, great Target/Varm stock. I would not recommend this stock for hunters that plan on being on the move ALL day; however for hunting farm land in central Vermont, it works well.

I put this on my Savage 12 22-250. I love it, it's heavy and very solid. It dropped right in and offers a good tight fit, I was drilling prairie dogs in no time. You Can't beat the price. With its "custom cool guy" look, I like to think of it as the working man's McMillan.

I like the fact that the stock is almost 6lbs. That's about 4lbs heavier than the standard synthetic stock that came on my savage 12 FV (should reduce felt recoil a lot). A few minor issues are that the front adapter (mount) for the bipod is poorly designed: I have a Harris (6-9" swivel bipod) and it is as tight as possible and still not very tight to the stock (barely touching for mine)...will need to add something to the stock for better fit there.It isn't a professionally-fitted looking stock...there is a lot of space around the barrel (didn't measure, but guessing about .25 - .5 inch or so)....looks like poor fit and finish...but that's just looks (I want shooting performance -cosmetics doesn't hit X's at 600yds). Both of those things are very minor but I mention for others that are thinking of buying this stock. I do like the stock, and it is very reasonably priced. Drop in assembly, it took about 10 min to pull factory stock and have the Ult SNiper installed...no sweat at all. I would recomend this stock for someone doing long-range prone targets. Plus, you can't beat MidwayUSA's price on it!So, heavy, pistol grip, low cost, alum block bedding, adjustable recoil pad and LOP, various cheek pieces for proper alignment....it all equals Good stuff!
