Product Information

Winchester's RackMaster Slug system was designed with a hard-hitting lead nose and an innovative rear stabilizer known as WinGlide. This system improves in-bore alignment and enhances accuracy. On impact, this ammunition is extremely hard-hitting and delivers extreme knockdown power for hunters with either smooth bore, rifled choke tube, or fully-rifled barrels.

I reviewed this ammunition on 06-30-11, with very pleasing results of 2". I managed to save 1 box for testing at a later date. Test was done on 07-03-11. My results were unexpectedly amazing. I used same Savage 210F slug gun, but with a different scope and new rings. My group went to an astonishing 1.625" at 100 yards! Just goes to show to check for scope slip. The best all-around value for price and accuracy. Great job Winchester. For deer out to 150 yards you cant go wrong.

Purchased 2 boxes for ...

Purchased 2 boxes for testing and to my amazement was rewarded with a 100 yard tight clover!!! Used a Savage 210F slug gun, a Caldwell dft2 sled, 3x9x40 scope. After shooting 10 rounds I could not see any signs of leading. I have just found my "brush" ammo when the deer wont move. Word of caution: at almost 500gr..do be aware of recoil. They are slightly stiffer than Lightfields in 2 3/4 inch. Happy Hunting.UPDATE!! I recently bought a few more boxes to compare with the 3 inch Winchester super x at 100 yards. Results are in. First off..both types of slugs had the same lot number. This made testing accurate. With no wind , low temps and humidity very low and after every shot the barrel was allowed 5 min to cool. Also after every box a dry cleaning was done. The RACK MASTER slugs printed a 2 inch group measuring center of hole to center of hole. Had 1 flier out of 10. Final group measured 5 inches due to the 1 flier. The super x was a bit disappointing with a best group of 4 inches center to center. In my opinion the RACK MASTER slugs will be more dependable for distances of 150-175 yards based on the tight groups. I used my Savage 210F bolt action slug gun with a 3-9x40 Bushnell banner muzzle loading scope. Target was 5 ply- 3/4 inch plywood. All slugs made perfect round holes meaning full stability when they reached the target. Hope this review helps.

This is a great round for the price. Strong recoil and very good power. Smooth functioning from my Rem. 870 Express smooth barrel. Tight groups at 50 yards, nice hog hunting slugs, Not recommended for home defense because of over penetration. Use buckshot for home defense, 00 or 000.
