Product Information

Large, single chamber compensator with six separate ports gives controlled release of muzzle gas for almost recoil-free rimfire shooting. Inner, rubber O-ring gives a positive gas seal. Installs easily by removing factory front sight and using existing hole. Weighs 4oz. Fits Ruger Mark 2 and 22/45 models with .875" bull barrel (4", 5-1/2", or 6-7/8"). It does not fit the 10" model.

I have used it for a few ...

I have used it for a few years on my 22/45. I mainly got it to rebalance the gun after putting on a heavy red dot. With a lighter one it works even better and now i can shoot pretty quick at a 2x2 board at 40 yards

This thing is awesome on ...

This thing is awesome on my 22/45. I don't know if it's the extra weight or the gas venting, but muzzle flip is definitely reduced. Also the finish matches exactly. I took the advice of J R and replaced the o-ring with the 019 Viton unit and it made the fit very snug and tight. Plus it makes the gun look awesome.

Volquartsen = Quality. ...

Volquartsen = Quality. The V-Comp is a well made stainless compensator that is very easy to install. If you can use a screwdriver, then you can install this comp. Remove front sight, slide V-Comp over barrel, align holes, set the Allen screw. Done. I was impressed how the finish on the V-Comp and the Ruger barrel matched up perfectly. I installed this on a Ruger Mark III 5.5 stainless bull. It will add a little weight to the end of the barrel and also extend your sights. Overall a great product from a trusted name.

I have one on my MKIII ...

I have one on my MKIII Hunter 6-7/8" that I use in bowling pin competition. It does seem to help. I'm not sure if it's the comp working or just the added weight, but be warned that they do mar the barrel when you install them and remove them. They are a real bear to clean and carbon gets really baked onto the muzzle of the pistol but if you spray the end of your barrel with Spatter Guard used by welders, the carbon flakes off with your finger nail. The O-ring inside the comp to seal the gases, I coat it with petroleum jelly so it sildes on easier with less chance of tearing. Be warned that they do mar the barrel when you install them and remove them, but not so bad on a SS barrel. Volquartsen, as far as I know, don't sell replacement O-rings but they will replace them at no charge in case it gets damaged.

Reduced recoil of my Mk3 ...

Reduced recoil of my Mk3 22/45. Works best with copper plated bullets. Unplated bullets get lead build up after 1000 rounds. Makes 4 inch barrel point good and look better. I put this on my blued gun for a two tone look.

I bought one direct from ...

I bought one direct from VQ with the Hi-Viz front site. It is the finest thing since sliced bread! Simply take off your original front site, slide this on, use the screw to hold it in place. The comp seemed a *little* loose to me, and I could rock it just a hair back and forth by hand. Don't get me wrong, the tolerances were less than a thousandth of an inch. A easy solution is to replace the O-Ring inside. I found a Viton 019 (I believe it was) worked great! The overall size is just a *hair* smaller than the original, but the thickness of the material is greater (a bulkier o-ring). This produced a much tighter fit and is now solid in place with no movement at all! Get a Viton brand o-ring as they are higher-temp and more resistant to solvents.

Excellent fit and finish. ...

Excellent fit and finish. You will need to adjust your sights (if using iron sights) because the post sits at a slightly different height. I think this works more because of the weight rather than the porting, but I'm no expert and either way, it works.
