These revolutionary bullets from Barnes are made of 100% copper and contain no lead. When the bullet expands, four razor-sharp cutting petals are created, allowing the bullet to penetrate farther through tough bone and tissue. These bullets usually retain 100% of their original weight, making them a superb choice for hunting. Barnes recommends initially seating bullets 0.050" off the lands. Best accuracy will be found from 0.030" to 0.070" depending on the rifle. This is not loaded ammunition.

You CAN stabilize these out of a 1 in 9" twist barrel. Both my 16" AR-15 and my CZ 527 have 1 in 9" twist barrels and have NO difficulty what so ever. A few things to try that might help loading these: The TSX bullet can be loaded as close as .030 off of the rifling, and try milspec brass (product #521947), and fill the case up. Varget stabilizes this bullet well and so does BL(c)-2. I have seen some BAD groups with this bullet and some benchrest quality groups out of the same box of bullets. Don't be afraid of pressure, I think this bullet likes it. I'm getting 3/4" groups at 100yds with a 1.1-4x IOR scope (3086fps). I recovered one of these after fully expanding going through a water jug and pushed parts of the jug 3/4" into a stack of phone books. Verdict: FLAWLESS PERFORMANCE

After reading reviews in this column I decided to try these whitetail hunting this year. Accuracy was good with my RRA predator rifle with r-15 powder max loads, no pressure signs. Shot a 140 lb doe from a tree stand at 60yds. Bullet shattered the shoulder blade upon entry angled down through both lungs. Found the bullet under the hide on the opposite side. Not one drop of blood, deer ran 50 yards and dropped, still no blood. Bullet did a nice job, no blood bothers me.

Fantastic bullet! Shot a 180 lb. doe at 60 yards quartered slightly away with my RRA Predator Pursuit AR with 1 in 8 twist and she dropped straight down. Bullet entered just behind the left front shoulder and exited the other side. Lungs and heart were liquefied. This bullet is like a runaway blender blade!

This bullet kills way out of proportion to its size. My wife has used this bullet the last 3 seasons with perfect success from her .22-250. everything she has shot, she has shot only once, including the 300lb muley buck this past season. near or far it kills them with no fuss. I'm starting to wonder why I shoot magnums.

Outstanding product, My Tikka T3 .223 with 1 in 8 twist really likes these bullets and I have taken several really nice deer with them. I have not had to look for blood because I never lose sight of them in my scope.

Awesome bullet for ranch use. I live in East Texas and on my days off I help an old man who has been a friend of the family forever. He owns over 1500 acres spread out all over east Texas. Well as payment and as a favor to hill he lets me hunt the feral hogs that tear up his pasture land. I have a m700 sps Tac with a Nikon Monarch 6-24x50 that I carry on my ATV when Im out there. I've shot these for awhile now and the do the Job no matter what I put in my scope. I've killed over 16 hogs and probably that many coyotes and 1 deer with one shot kills. Put this bullet in the center of the neck and 1inch below the ear of a hog and its DRT with golf ball exit wounds from 50-150 yards. I shot a doe facing me at 77 yards from a tree stand. The bullet entered the lower neck and exited about six inches behind her front legs she ran 25 yards and was done. Bullet broke 4 ribs and blew heart and lung chunks all over the ground. Will be buying again.

Great bullets for deer. Shot well in my BCM middy (1/7 twist rate). Loaded them with H335 for my 5.56 nato. 2 shots, 4 holes, 2 dead deer. Neither went very far. (less than 10 yards)

I didn't do proper research before purchasing these bullets. They will not stabilize from my 1:9 twist barrel. I gave 5 stars because I don't see it as fair to Barnes for my lack of research.

An excellent hunting bullet, if used in a barrel with the proper twist that it is made for 1-8 OR FASTER. Load it proper and it will surprise you! I highly recommend these to anyone who wants the one shot to count.

Amazing performance on deer in the .223 Remington! Fully aware that the general consensus lies in the BELIEF that the .223 is inadequate for deer, I still wanted to hunt with my AR-15 (.223 Rem) so I did my research and decided to give these bullets a try. Accuracy out of my 20" 1:8" Bushmaster Predator was quite good with five shot groups consistently under one inch. With a max load of H4895, velocity averaged 2913 ft/s which I calculated to produce 1343 fpe.I had full confidence that this load would perform well as long as the shot was placed carefully, but I was surprised to find that it handled a challenging quartering forward (through the shoulder) shot with ease (Whitetail Deer 125lbs dressed).The shot hit the leg bone squarely totally shattering it. It then smashed through a rib bone shattering it. The bullet continued through the heart and lungs and then exited on the far side. Measuring diagonally, the bullet penetrated more than 17" of deer. The deer ran a short 50 yards and expired.With increased confidence in this load, I continued hunting and was able to take a second deer with the same results. Shattered leg bone, shattered rib, destroyed heart and lungs, and exited on the far side. Down within 50 yards!The only downside to this bullet/load combination is that the entrance hole was small and the exit whole was only about 3/4" in diameter. Bloodtrail was light, but still easy to follow after the first 25 yards. In summary, I highly recommend this bullet to anyone that would like to use the .223 Rem on deer. Keep in mind it does require a slow twist.

one word...WOW. Loaded for my 1:8 RRA predator pursuit using Varget. Used a fairly light load so I could seat the bullet to still fit in the magazine without compressing the charge. 5 shot group at 100 yds was an amazing .444. Velocity was good considering light load @ 2489 and an extreme spread of 14 fps over a ten shot string. I then shot a small plastic bottle (3 inches thick) filled with water @ 100 yds. Exit hole was over an inch best I could tell. It completely obliterated the bottle. We have small deer around here. I can't wait to try it on one. I have always wanted a RELIABLE expanding bullet in .224. I am looking no further. This is the cat's meow!UPDATE: Two deer with two shots. Small doe at 325 yds in the neck. Deer was facing me. Bullet broke neck, traveled down spine, and exited rear ham. Complete penetration and bang flop. second deer was 150 pound 6 point quartering towards me at 225 yds. The bullet entered shoulder, broke shoulder , and left a two yes two inch exit hole on the other side. The deer ran 30 yds. My hunting buddies couldn't believe their eyes. They swore no .224 caliber could do that kind of damage. LOOK NO FURTHER. Here it is. I will load ALL my rifles with Barnes from now on if they will shoot them. I can't say enough. The experience has been unreal.
