Only use a beed sight so ...

Only use a beed sight so have not used the raised cheak peace option but the shell holder portion works like a charm. Have shot three gun matches using reduced recoil buck and full 1oz. slug loads without one shell droping out. When used with Knoxxs' recoil reducing adjustable stock, it makes for a very good set up. Fully recommend.

I like Knoxx stuff a lot ...

I like Knoxx stuff a lot and recommend their products frequently. I tried to like the PowerPak, but I couldn't. The instructions were confusing, largely because there are various combinations of the options, (high cheek rest, low cheek rest, battery storage and shell holder). The directions should have identified all the pieces first instead of assuming that someone unfamiliar with the product knew which was the high and low cheek pieces. The shell holder is attached with four screws from the inside, and this was a little awkward and tedious but not too bad. The four screws that attach the battery storage compartment were a frustrating nightmare. According to the instructions, the long length of a hex key (Allen wrench) is to be used at an offset angle around the shell holder, but that does not work. It consistently and repeatedly cross threaded the short screws into the plastic holes when it needs to tap the holes perpendicularly. The only way I was able to install these screws was to place them in the clearance holes, resting on the holes that needed to be tapped and press until my thumb hurt to start the short screw and then use the short arm of the wrench while pressing down to force the threads to tap the plastic. I expected installation to take five minutes to read the directions and five minutes to do the work. It took an hour. If you use ghost ring or bead sights, you don't use the snarky looking angled high cheek rest, so basically you get a battery storage compartment and shell holder. The instructions said the front of the shell holder is marked with an arrow on the inside face. I looked with a very good lighted magnifier. There is no marking. There is a slight difference between front and back and no real way to know which is correct. I guessed and it seemed to work. The injection molded parts are very high quality and the shell holder holds shells securely under recoil. That kept it from getting one star for the design that is way too difficult to asse

To be honest, I thought this would be a rip off, but got it only for the fact of having a side saddle on my new Blackhawk SpecOps stock.I was in for a nice surprise. Getting this I seen right away it was very strong construction and design. It went together real nice. I really like the side saddle, it is very strong. However, this is where things change. It was more than just the side saddle I liked after assembling.The battery compartment on opposite side is a nice touch that stays out of your way. I have 2 lights on my tactical and its nice having battery storage to take along, but out of your way. The cheek riser looks odd at first, but once assembled on the Blackhawk SpecOps stock looks very classy, and extremely comfortable fit. It is NOT lose at all. Very nice snug fit and stays in place very well. The cheek riser/comb raises my sight just high enough so I can easily and comfortably see through my added ghost ring night sights without any effort at all.I guess if I was going to just stick with the stock bead sight it might raise to high, but who wants a single bead sight for a tactical in the first place? Very well planned, thought out, and designed product I highly recommend to accompany the Blackhawk SpecOps stock. Note: Make sure to read the instructions first. A few things you want to know before the finished product. I will say this though as one review stated, I didn't have an arrow on my side saddle either to tell me which was front and which was back. All I did was take my time, turn it in both possible directions and visualize which way made a snug tight fit and which left some of the saddle with overhang. So on that part, just take your time and see which way makes for the best fit, being there can only be one of two ways it can go on. Other than that, everything is easy to follow and understand in the instructions.

A great add on to the ...

A great add on to the SpecOps stocks. Came with all the tools necessary to assemble, and it only took about ten minutes to put it together. One issue I had with the high rise cheek rest is it hits you in your cheek every time you fire it, even with reduced recoil loads. I took it off and am using the low profile rest and the bead sight now, and am having no more problems with it. Works great if your only using factory bead sights.

The picture shows the assembled PowerPak with the high cheek piece. What you get is 4 separate parts that you need to assemble with the provided screws (easy job). You have the option of installing the battery holder and shell holder on either side or leave them off completely. There is a high and low cheek pad depending if you use iron sights or an optic. But once you choose you cannot simply switch from the high to low pad. Plus, when the whole PowerPak is installed on the butt stock, it's pretty much permanent. It's on so tight it looks like it would have to be cut off. There was a bonus of a pair of foam ear plus provided in the battery tube, which I thought was a nice touch.

I just tried this out for the first time yesterday. Ya it was a pain putting it together but it was well worth it. My cheek is a little sore but I was shooting 3" Magnums. And the ammo carrier is a little tight. Maybe it just needs to be broken in. But all in all its a Great Product.

Granted, the assembly may be a bit confusing but once you figure out what you want then it's easy to figure out. I use the high check rest with a C-More sight and it works great. Nice check weld and sight alignment. This is a must have if you already have the SpecOps stock.

This is gonna take a little getting used to. I agree with the others it was a pain to put together. I have it on my mossy 500 with a red dot scope so I went with the high cheek rest and it seems a little high until I adjusted the stock. I just got it today so I want to take it out and test it.

This is a follow-up to my 01/26/2009 review. I have now received the Knoxx Spec Ops Stock, and this comment relates to installing the Power Pak on the stock. After everything is assembled, the instructions tell you to remove the butt plate/rear from the adjustable stock, place it butt down on a hard surface, and "firmly" slide the Power Pak over the stock. Well, to say that this is a tight fit is an understatement. In fact, I stood up and put all my weight on the Power Pak and couldn't budge it. After several attempts and fearing that I would break it, I called Knoxx (now Blackhawk). Their representative told me that they had several calls about how difficult it is to slide the Power Pak over the stock, that they recommended that two people do the installation, and that if I broke it, they would replace it under warranty. OK. So I decided that this was a job for the ole trusty torque amplifier (i.e., a big rubber mallet). I placed the stock butt down on my work bench, placed a piece of scrape 1' x 4' on the Power Pak so that I wasn't putting any preasure on the battery comparnent or the shell holder, and whacked the heck out of it. Voila! It worked. A couple more whacks, Power Pak installed. I don't know if anyone else had this much difficulty, but the ole rubber mallet did the trick and I didn't break anything. Becasue the plastic is very strong and doesn't move or bend much, and the tolerances are so tight, anyone buying this product may have the same difficulty. Hopefully my solution will help anyone buying this product.

This product was assembled and installed on the stock within 5 minutes of starting the procedure. If you read and adhere to them installation is straight forward and painless. All tools (1) that is required is included and this product is made to last forever. The battery compartment will hold two 123A batteries and the shell holder is as solid as any I've seen. This was a solid investment, and no downside that I can see. Buy and enjoy, I know I will.
