I was very pleased with the rest, for the small amount of money it cost. For sighting in or hunting sage rats, it's great. A benchrest shooter might want to spend more $$$ and get a more elaborate unit. The rifle rest does pistols also. This is not mentioned in the catalog, I bought a pistol rest and a rifle rest so now have 2. We found an old school desk to support the rest, very portable and steady. Happy Shooting.

This product worked well ...

This product worked well when used as a one piece rest with the center connecting bar. Unfortunately, that setup did not fit my older Browning T-Bold 22. I had to remove the center bar and use the front and back rest individually to properly fit the rifle. In that configuration both the front and back rests became very unstable. Any movement of the rifle caused them to wobble and lift two of the rubber feet off the shooting bench. I have since spent a few dollars more for the Caldwell Rock and am very glad I did. I will use the Steady Rest NXT for pistol use, only. I would not recommend this for serious target shooters.

Excellent product, easy to use

I've used the Caldwell products before and they have an excellent line. This particular model I ordered for I was on a budget and it filled that budget. I love the way it breaks down to shoot pistol and the height adjustment is great.
When I go to a friend place the bench is short so I take the tail stok off and it works great. I would say that this product works the best I've used. If ya on a budget then this is the one for you.

When I first pulled this out of the box, it almost went back. Very cheap and flimsy feeling. However, once on the bench with the rifle in place, it is rock solid. I shoot better from this rest than some of the more elaborate rest systems that I have. The fact that it is light makes it all that much easier to pack to the range.

Great value. Works as it should. This is an alternative to bags, NOT A RANSOM REST! If you are expecting Ransom-type stability for $30, you need to adjust your expectations or your budget.

Not a terrible product, ...

Not a terrible product, but still too flimsy for accurate long range work. Putting more or less pressure on the rifle/rest easily moves you off target making shooting a chore. I found it quite a bit easier to shoot off a bipod and rear bag. Price was fair, but I recommend investing your money elsewhere.

Great for the price, but ...

Great for the price, but this is no Lead Sled! Even slight pressure on the rifle or rest will move the point of aim...but it'll help get you on paper and takes you somewhat out of the equation when evaluating a weapon. Taking the rear half off to use as a pistol rest works better, but it's still a little flimsy.

Picked one of these up today and I am very pleased with the value for the money. It is basically two rests in one and very sturdy for how light it is. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a great rest without breaking the bank!
