I use the scope on my Winchester model 1300 12 gauge and the ammunition being Winchester Partition Gold 3 inches. I had a 1 1/2 inch group at 50 yards. With the recoil of the slugs, the scope held it's zero. I used that combination to take a 225 lb black bear in Ontario 08-15-2011. The scope is worth the money. Buy it, you'll like it.

I bought this scope because I wanted a lower power scopre on my Marlin 336. I had a VX-1 3-9x40 mounted on the gun and I liked the scope. As a brush gun and sometimes self/home defense weapon, I wanted something more akin to iron sights without having to give up some magnification for the typical shots I take from deer stands in the Eastern U.S. (50-150 yards). This scope was perfect. At 1 power, it's basically a red dot without the added complication of batteries, electronics, switches and the like. But maxed out at 4 power it is perfect for good clean kills on deer out to at least 150 yards. I highly recommend this scope for rife shooters who don't want to choose between irons and optics. Of course, it's a Leupold so there isn't much that needs to be said about quality. The scope is rugged, the optics are clear and bright and it has a huge field of view and good eye relief. This scope makes an already versatile rifle even more so.

This compact, handsome, quality scope is the perfect addition to a Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag. Fits perfectly without the use of bulky rails (S&K mounts!). The absence of the bell in front allows allows clearance for the buckhorn rear sight. Magnification is appropriate for calibers with a 200 yard maximum effective range (like 44 Mag). Heavy duplex is just the ticket for contrasting with dense Eastern woods. Optics are good and clear. Never any problems with fogging. No need for scope cover on the front, the narrow recessed opening naturally avoids dust collection. Friction adjustable windage and elevation is adequate for the range this scope is intended for and I have never experienced any drift after hundreds of rounds of full-power 44 Mag.

Great scope for the money. Mounted on a Winchester 1300, it easily handles the recoil from Win. Partition Golds (helped deliver 2" groups at 100 yards) and is very clear from edge to edge. Only compliant is that it could use click adjustments. Spend a few extra bucks and use this scope, you will be happy.

Although this scope is intended for a shotgun I mounted it on a MSAR STG-556 with great results. Great scope for a tactical carbine.Very quick to pick up and you don't have to worry too much about eye relief as it's so flexible. Heavy Duplex is not a problem for ranges up to 300 yards and a benefit at very close range.

I have two of the Leupold 1X4 shotgun scopes. They are both mounted on AR15 carbines. The 1X is perfect for close range/CQB work and set to 4X it is easily effective out to 300 yards. Great glass for the money.

I have two of these. One is on a custom AR15 carbine and when set at 1x you can easily use this scope with both eyes open. Several other 1-4 scopes I have tried are not a perfect 1x and they are difficult to use with both eyes open. The heavy duplex is great for fast target acquisition and the thin part of the duplex is small enough to easily see a 4 inch clay at 300 meters. This is a great scope, well worth the money.
