To date I've found no problems with this brass. So far, I reloaded it three times and shot less than 1/2 MOA groups with my Sako TRG-42 using 250 grain and 300 grain HPBT match bullets, H1000 propellant and Winchester Large Rifle Magnum primers. The brass is easy to work. It is a good value.

I tried a box of 20 and ...

I tried a box of 20 and was really disappointed. The cartridges werent annealed properly and the brass stretched and stuck in the chamber. Un-safe and could harm your rifle. When I contacted Hornady they were very apologetic and wanted all the brass back right away. Apparently they had some real problems with several lots. I wasted about a 1/4 pound of powder, 20 Lapua Scenar bullets and 20 match grade primers. It took Hornady almost three months to get back to me. Disappointing to say the least......Don't waste your time and money, buy Lapua or Norma brass! I have 500 rounds of Lapua brass. Some has been loaded eight times and still operates flawlessly. Spend the extra money and treat yourself to something much better than the Hornady cases.

got 20 of these casings and had 16 of the 20 stick in my chamber. fired them from a brand new never fired rifle and very first casing did this. had to beat all casing out with a cleaning rod and hammer because my extractor was shaving off the rim of the case upon trying to extract. when i tried to resize and decap the casings after firing the very first casing got stuck in my die and i now have to send it back to the comapany to get it out as it's stuck that bad. never again will i buy hornady brass. i'll spend the money and get lapua.

I am disappointed that hornady actually would allow brass like this to even leave their factory.Indeed it is too soft for the proper use in the .338 lapua.I had multiple cases stick in my chamber with loads that are only running 80% of max pressure.I am fortunate I was only using it to break in my barrel and not in a situation where it could have caused other problems such as having it happen when hunting out in the field.However to be fair the brass was in spec when I measured it out of the box with only one unusable case due to overall length of 2.730.I guess you get what you pay for and this is one of the calibers where quality brass is essential for proper safety and function.Going with another brand would be highly advisable.

Upon first inspection this brass looked fine, but after the first firing the cases would stick in the chamber with every round. these cases are way too soft.

Not Hornady Quality. ...

Not Hornady Quality. Hornady has rushed too many things to market lately without thorough testing. This brass is worse than PPU brass. I had some factory loads that I reloaded and some new brass from a different lot. With Retumbo I experienced severe sticking with no other signs of overpressure. With RL-22 i had hard extraction well before max load. Lapua and Norma brass had no problems as I approached max loads with 4 different powders and 4 different bullets. The hornady brass runs about 20g lighter than Lapua and is expanding just enough to measure .001 over the others' diameter .200" off the rim cold. I also found the rim dimensions to be closer to 338-378 Weatherby than 338 Lapua specs. i suspect hornady used the same tooling as thier weatherby rounds. Lapua and Norma brass do not slide onto a #14 shellplate but Hornady brass will. If I used Rigby I would compare to that also. Cutting corners in manufacturing doesn't do USA products a favor.

I went through 100 cartridges and fired at 90% max load. Had several stick. After the first firing, I trimmed sized and polished each cartridge to spec. I had the same problems and was amazed at the amount of expansion in the brass after being fired. Also, due to the expansion in the neck, it is difficult to get the cartridges re-sized without denting them. Will never buy again.

Well I have had no issues with this brass. I reload both Lapua and Hornady cases. I see no big differences. I haven't done weight or capacity comparisons, but don't see the need to. It can shoot overlapping holes at 100 yards with the right loads, so it meets my needs. The necks are annealed which is a nice benefit that I did NOT get recently on Lapua 338LM that I bought (Lapua brass is usually annealed though).

I usually buy all Lapua brass and bullets. I wish I would have stuck with that policy in this case. The weights were quite a bit less consistent than Lapua brass and after the first loading I had to trim the necks back down to SAMMI dimensions. I was able to reload the Lapua brass 3 times before I had to trim necks. Then on the third firing (Hornady brass) I started experiencing stuck cases at charges that were only 70% of maximum according to the Sierra manual. One of the cases in the lot had a strange kind of fold or crack in the shoulder right out of the box. I shoot 1.5" groups at 600 yards with this gun and don't like having to use a hammer to get the bolt open! This has never happened with Lapua brass at the same charge/bullet/primer combo. I'm going to recycle this brass and write it off. Stick with Lapua brass in this caliber and you won't be let down!

Clean brass, in the 338 Lapua Magnum cambering is only good for low pressure loads. Nearing anywhere near 3/4 to max charge to bring forth the true capabilities of a 338 Lapua Magnum this brass over-expands tremendously. If you are running very light loads and lower weight projectiles then this may be ok. Bought several boxes and they now sit as expensive reminders that you get what you pay for in terms of high quality brass. This brass, in this cambering specifically, is too soft. I would not recommend.
