If you're looking for an opportunity to do some cheap practice shooting with your favorite carry or competition gun, convert your 1911 to fire rimfire ammunition in just minutes. This high quality unit fits most 1911-style, single stack handguns chambered in 45 ACP. (Not compatible with ramped barrel and will not work with a 1911 chambered in 40 S&W, 38 Super or 9mm Luger) These drop-in units require no modifications to your gun and do not require changing mainsprings. Conversion units will fit compact models, but the magazine will protrude slightly below the grip. Includes adjustable sights, travel case and a 10-round magazine. Kimber strongly recommends using only premium ammunition with plated bullets. Non-plated lead bullets may cause failures.

Please Note: This rimfire conversion is not for use with the Taurus PT1911 or shorter barreled variants of the 1911 platform.

I have to give Kimbers 22LR conversion kit a (5) star rating, a great piece of work!, Ive been smithing for 30 years & after using all makes & models (I) feel that with Kimber's use of the barrel bushing gives you more than just a drop in kit, now please don't get me wrong about the Bull barrel units, (but) if you like to tinker & change to tighter bushings or different looking parts /color ect, & trying to make it a better tack driver than it all ready is! well this is the way to go! I figure most of you all know the difference between the Bull barrel system & barrel bushing system but hands down (I) feel this kit is the way to go, you get more than just a 22lr drop in kit it gives you the chance to upgrade all sorts of things! my self have put every type of ammo there is and with countless #s of rounds loosing count at 10.000 + (If you keep it clean) she will keep you very happy. Plus its a nice looking kit. Happy Safe Shooting. P.S. Take one of our future adults & teach them to safely handle and shoot safely. I hope you enjoy your Kimber as much as I have.

This product would be a five, but I have a Taurus PT 1911 and when I put it together it did not fire!!! It is not because this is a piece of a junk, but because the Taurus's hammer is made a little bit different than a Kimber. Sorry for all of you Taurus 1911 owners!

Kimber 1911 22lr conersion

If you have a M1911 you need to get a 22lr conversion kit. I was on the fence about getting an EAA witness (cz 75) or an M1911. The deciding factor for me was the 22lr conversion kit works better for the 1911s.

Regarding 22 kits you have three choices The Kimber, Advantage, and Marvel. Marvel and Advantage make fixed barrel kits which really convert the pistol into a bullseye gun. However they are pricey running 400 to 550 and as I have a Benelli Mp 95 I didn't have a need for a 2nd bullseye gun. I reload so saving on ammo was not a factor. I chose the Kimber because they make it in silver, I chose Kimber because it reviews at par with the marvel non fixed barrel and it has adjustable sights.

I was impressed by the quality of the kit but the magazines could be better and for the price Kimber really should include a second mag and a brushing tool.

I t works great. No problems with CCI mini mags and it works good with CCI Blazer 99% which I good enough for a decent 22. It failed less then my old Browning Buck Mark and is as if not more accurate. The key here is field stripping a Buck Mark is a process requiring all kinds of Allen keys and the need to use locktite to keep the buckmark sights from moving about in contrast with the Kimber or any of the top kits stripping is cake. If you plan on changing at the range it's possible and easy but most 1911 have a 16 to 18 lbs recoil spring and if you any regard for your eyes your spring cover I prefer converting at home.

Tips on making it run better. some people say changing the hammer spring to 18 lbs will make it work flawlessly. I am hesitant to do that because changing the hammer spring must be done in the context of a trigger job as hammer and sear need to be balanced or parts will break after a 1000 rounds and no one wants to go full auto throwing 45 lead.

To make the kit feed better I delicately polished the mags with aDremmel tool. The mags are plastic and they are crudely molded, that said I think all the kits use the same lousy mags. Keeping the gun clean and well oiled works and polishing the top of the mags taking off NO More than 1 mm off excess plastic helps.

So if you are in the market for a second gun and own a1911 I would buy this kit before I buy a Ruger or Browning because it shoots as well field strips easier and it's better made.

If you need to make your 1911 into a bullseye gun I would pony up for the fixed barrel marvel.

I'm so glad I got this. It makes a tack driver out my 1991's and also very economical plinker. You could hunt with this if wanted to. It doenst stay open on the last round, one other thing, it doesnt hand cycle but cyles perfectly when shot. It would be nice if Kimber would tell you these tow things outright. Would have saved me a phone call and a little anxiety beccause I thought it was broke at first.

My wife bought me one of the Kimber conversion units. It looked great. I took it to the range and tried to fire it. The firing pin hit the rim of the .22 Long Rifle cartridge, it din't fire. In short the firing pin spring was to long and prevented the firing pin from hitting the rim of the case hard enough to fire the cartridge. I repaird the problem. Kimber should test each unit befeore they sell them.

Read all the reviews and was a bit hesitant to buy this, but did anyway. First off, put this on a Series 70 Colt that I had done some rail tightening on decades ago, so suspected I might get some snug fitting. I did, but quickly eased it with fine lapping compound and then some polishing compound. No idea how much metal was removed, but cannot have been much. The Kimber slide is as-cast, no machining at all, so it will only fit if the mold it is cast in is a match for your frame. As noted by others, the slide stop would not go in, the cutout is too shallow. A touchup with a round file fixed that. The safety would not engage, notch in the slide not large enough or positioned just right. Again, a bit of filing fixed that. Finally, the magazine would not allow the slide to go into battery until material was removed from the feed lips. Works now. Should I have had to do all this for a $300 part? I dunno, luckily I could do it without much fear of mucking things up, and the slide is aluminum and easy to work on. Be forewarned, good chance it is not a bolt-on if your gun has been accurized. Fired it today, only two misfires, no feed or ejection failures. Great so far.

Have one of these on a Norinco frame. First time out the first shell failed to eject, second and third required the slide to be racked, however the next 117 rounds fired without issue or intervention. Bulk of ammo was Federal bulk pack and a few CCI mini-mags. No problem with either. I was somewhat skeptical, but now I have no reservations.

Straight out of the box ate everything I fed it except Winchester, had 2 that failed to fire and 1 failed to feed. The cheap Remington and federal ran without a problem. Fit well on my Para GI expert.

I have a Kimber 45 ACP, 5" barrel and love it, but I was very disappointed and frustrated with the Kimber 22 LR Conversion Kit. MIDWAYUSA refunded my money, and I am very pleased with their customer service. The Conversion Kit started jamming and at times would not fire when chambered, and that was after about 60 shots. This problem re-occurred even after Kimber had it for three weeks and sent it back to me as being repaired and ready to go. I utilized their recommended ammo. I am just surprised and disappointed that Kimber is putting out such a poor quality product.

I found that GSG 1911 magazines work with this conversion kit mounted on my Kimber CDP II platform. They also hold the slide open after the last round has fired.

This is a great product, fit and finish is exellent but the only thing keeping it from a 5 star is that its a bit fussy about the ammo it shoots. Some brands don't work at all. I had to get some Federal Premium that was the only brand that would fire consistantly for my kit.

Bought this product for my Rock Island Armory (Made in the Phillipines) 1911 A1. I was a little concerned that their might be fit issues, but since I was buying through Midway I knew that if their was any problems I could return for my money back. Their was no problems at all, it slipped right onto my frame with a nice tight fit. I oiled the slide and worked it back and forth about fifty times before heading to the range. Using CCI Mini mags I ran 100 rounds through the gun. The only problem I encountered was when I pushed the mag up too far. The Kimber mags worked fine when pushed up to when they just click in. If I butted them up with my palm the first round wants to jam up. Once I got that figured out I had no more problems. Forty of the rounds that I fired where as fast as I could pull the trigger and I had no problems at all. So if any one has a Rock Island Armory 1911 A1 and are thinking about getting a 22 conversion slide for their gun I can highly recomend the Kimber Kit.
