I didn't buy this muzzle ...

I didn't buy this muzzle brake, but it came on my Springfield Armory Scout Squad rifle. The brake completely eliminates muzzle rise, but at the expense of greatly increased muzzle blast. I could actually feel the blast against my face while shooting and recoil is about the same as that of the standard flash suppressor. This brake is also much louder. It doesn't reduce flash as much as the slotted flash suppressor on my other M1A, but that could be due to that rifle's longer 22" barrel. Accuracy of both rifles is equal out to 300 yards.The shooter needs to decide what is more important. Reduced muzzle rise with more noise, or less flash and blast. Competition action shooters would probably go with the muzzle brake, while tactical guys/gals should stay with the flash suppressor. California shooters have no choice.
