I already have the 3-9x 40mm on another rifle and a Leupold VX-1. I like the Nikon's better1) Nikon is less expensive for a high end scope2) My Nikon BM is brighter than the Leupold,3) the sight adjustments are easier,4) Leupold has poor service- it took two months for vision adjustment and the scope came back with the same problem4) I also had a Nikon Pro Staff and that was better the Leupold VX-1.You make your choice but you live with it!

I have both BuckMaster and ProStaff scopes. Both are 3-9 by 40mm. I'll only buy Nikon in the future because of the brightness and ease of zeroing in. I also have a Leupold VX1 4-12 by 40mm $$$$$$. It's a pretty good scope but if you need help from Leupold,forget it. Their service and sales people are terrible. I learned this the long and hard way. I will now stay with Nikon. You can't go wrong. And if I might add, Midway has very fair prices.

This scope is really clear. A noticable difference from the 2004 model to this model (2005). I used this scope on my elk rifle and I was very happy with the scope adjustments, making sight-in easy. Rugged and did I mention very clear. Great scope for the money. I would definitely buy it again.

This is a very clear scope; it seems about as good optically as any I have ever seen, especially in this price range. The click adjustments are very nice, and I especially like the way the turrets can be set to index windage and elevation after you zero the rifle, making click adjusting for distance and wind easy. Color transmission is true and bright. Excellent value, though if I had it to do again I would get the one with the BDC reticle for a few dollars more. The one gripe is that I don't particularly like the Nikoplex Reticle, as the thick crosshairs come in very tight, which is OK for quick shots at low magnification, however I prefer wider spread between them, like a 30/30 reticle which is less obstructive for longer shots at higher magnification.

I just purchased my second Nikon Buckmasters scope and what I have to say is this. These scopes are as good if not better than alot of scopes costing alot more. I have a Prostaff and a Monarch, but I think the best all around is the Buckmasters series. I lost the rubber ring on the eye piece, contacted Nikon they wanted to replace the scope for me. That's service!
