To be specific...I have not used nor own a tactical pen. Not yet. As for the poor review this pen received. It's a pen!If a pen writes and does not fall apart then its a good product. It's no Surefire or a "tactical" Monte Blanc. In my opinion and this goes for all tactical pens...If it performs it's job poorly when used as its intended purpose then give it a bad review. If you expect more than what the description says, then buy another product. Now as a LEO in Texas. Any pen that can be used as a defensive weapon gets a BIG plus in my book. It may save my life.

As to the preformance of ...

As to the preformance of this pen. It is a metal holder for an ink cartridge. The one I recieved does not have a screw-off cap, it only screws apart in the middle to get the ink cartridge.
