I gave this sight a 5-star rating. I don't think it's "the best" removable rear sight there is--that's up to personal taste. However, the design is proven--it's simply the back section of a removable carry handle. This is the same basic design that is used by the SEALs (though by a different maker). There is zero transition time if used in conjunction with a red dot sight--the sight is already upright and ready to use. It "blurs" out of my vision and virtually disappears when I focus on the Aimpoint that I have mounted in front of it on my M4-type rifle.Basically, I think this is a solid value for the money.

A nice concept but poorly executed. I mounted this sight on a Del-ton flat top upper (also purchased from Midway). With the aperture centered per the scale on the sight the point of impact was 6" to the right of point of aim. I reversed the sight on the receiver and fired another group. The second group was 6" to the LEFT of point of aim. This shows that the sight is not centered on the rail of the receiver. The elevation range, originally listed at 800 yards then changed to 500 yards on midwayusa.com has now been reduced to 300 yards on the DPMS web site. This is a true number. Finally, the finish on the sight leaves something to be desired. The back of the sight where the scale is inscribed is a rough casting on the left side and shows tool marks on the right side. Obviously the casting was too small and the mill did not touch the left side.

Was very happy when product finally got here. Took out to Zero and didn't notice till after about 6 to 9 rds that the part of the rear sight elevation that holds peep and 0-2 sight is cranking towards the left, the part that has the UP and DN stetch into it. After realizing what was wrong with the sight took another 10 rds to find the small zeroing target then another 6 to get center black.; After making about 27 clicks to the right finally hitting black on 25 meters Zeroing target. I'm center on 2nd to last line to the right. Then proceeded to hit targets at 100m. 200m, and 300m no problem. Very displease with the rear sight not being straight. Deciding on whether I want to call DPMS or midway. After spending around 120 for a decent front and rear sights I'd rather of just bought a good scope or red dot. From my military exp. I was only expecting at the most 12 clicks on zeroing. Just worry now if I have a very strong wind if I will be able to make my adjustment that far.

This rear sight came attached on my DPMS LR-308 in 2009. I zeroed it to hit 2" high at 100 yards and it has not lost zero since then. The adjustments were felt as each click crept the impact closer to my point of aim. Just to try it out, I attached an EOTech and the sights appeared in the lower quarter to lower third of the window. It didnt get in the way of the optic's effictiveness. I dont have plans on having an optic on my .308 rifle, so the EOTech went back on the AR-15. As mentioned in an earlier review, it does physically stop at the 500 meter marking. The mounting screws are snugged by a large screwdriver and have not shaken loose. Still, I have reference marks on the screws. I prefer this solid and tought rear sight over the folding types just because of the fact that its built for moderate abuse. I dont have future plans of running it over with my truck or dropping it from 2 stories high onto a concrete sidewalk. This rear sight has served me well for years.

Solid product. I did not have the problem some users had whereby they commented that it only adjusts to 500 meters. My rear sight is able to adjust two clicks past 600 meters. If your sight cannot adjust this far some simple adjustment of the set screw and drum should put you in fine position to have a full range of adjustments. I do wish it had the ability to adjust a slot or two back... that would give an extra boost to sight radius. Other than that it is a very minimalistic A2 rear BUIS. Very sturdy.

Made and works well. But, it mounds further forward on the upper than other backup sights or even a carry handle because of the rear attachments bolt. There isn't a slot far enough back on an upper to allow the sight to sit comparatively far back on the upper as the carry handle does.

This rear sight is amazing. I think it gives a much cooler look to a flat-top AR than a standard carry handle, and it's cheaper to boot. The quality is amazing (as is most everything that DPMS makes) and it's very, very sturdy. The windage and elevation adjustments have a positive "click" and the knobs are a bit harder to manipulate than the cheaper sights, but that's a good thing in my opinion. That says to me that zero won't shift at all during recoil. The base is very nice and attached to my Picatinny rail VERY solidly- it's not going anywhere. If you're looking for a rear sight for an AR project or just want to give your flat-top AR a cooler look, you can't go wrong with this sight. Even though it doesn't fold down, it's well worth the money.

For the price this is an excellent alternative for A3 flat tops. Lines up perfectly with Spec front sights. The larger base and two capture knobs provide a very steady and durable attachment. I use this in place of the RRA tac handle on my RRA Entry as it is a bit lighter. I have another brand of BUIS that has a tendency to work loose after shooting for a while, but this one has done a great job of staying put. This is not the most expensive or "trendy", but if you do not need a flip up to clear other optics, it works great.
