The hammer in this kit is not mil-spec and hangs up on the firing pin in the carrier. It does not have the notch cut at the top front of the hammer to prevent catching on the firing pin. Compare a pic of the DPMS hammer to another/better brand and see for yourself. The rest of the kit was fine, but I hadn't planned on 30 minutes of grinder work to reprofile the hammer.

Could be better

All the parts are there, but it's one big jumbled pile. For about the same price, I like the CMMG kit better. They put the parts in color coded baggies with an included card to tell what is in each. This means no time wasted trying to figure out which spring is which. Trigger group in one bag, take down pins & springs in another, etc. The last two DPMS kits I got, the slot on the pistol grip was too narrow to go onto the frame. Not a big deal to file out some material to make it fit, but it takes time to do. I usually add a MAGPUL MOE kit, so I don't waste time fixing it. Other than the pistol grip, everything goes together well & works as it should. I will continue use the DPMS if needed.

Cheap parts

This is my third AR build but my first with this kit. Disapointing attention to detail here. The reciever pins and mag release parts have a satin blue/black finish that does not match std phosphate finish used on mil spec recievers (and the remainder of the parts in the kit.)
Aditionally, instead of the std cap head grip screw included in most AR's, they give you a cheap and soft chrome 1" x1/4-28 slot head screw with a hardened washer that doesn't fit. When I tried to get the washer on, the screw got all gauled up. So they saved 30 cents and put the threads in my reciever at risk. Really???!! Had to toss these parts and hunt up replacements at the local hardware store. Never again!

This was my first lower build, so take my opinion for what it's worth. I had to do some buffing/polishing on the trigger so it would fit properly in the lower. I expected that so it was really no surprise. The trigger feels great! All of the other pins/springs installed with ease. I don't have my upper ordered yet, but I assume that I will not have any issues with this lower parts kit. I do not feel the need to order a more expensive lower parts kit, as this one works just fine.

All the parts in this kit are sturdy metal, the springs work well and the detent springs work. I had to work my takedown pins a bit until they came out with proper ease. My magazine release button and lever are rough and the finish on them was garbage. The trigger and hammer perform well. The trigger and hammer pins were able to just be "pushed in" with my thumb. we'll see if they walk out on their own.

Well made DPMS product! The only problem, of course, was just getting the trigger guard and bolt catch roll pins in. After all that, everything was plug and play. Awesome product!

This is a great parts kit for the price. Good, crisp trigger and all parts are machined well. The pins were super tight and gave me a little trouble. I would rather the pins be tight than loose. I will buy again!!

Great parts kit, can't beat the price for the components! Only recommendation is to replace the trigger guard with a Magpul trigger guard. One that comes in the kit is cheap, everything else is great!
