This is an awesome knife. Extremely heavy duty, astoundingly sharp from the factory, but with a very durable edge, and with enough weight to handle large amounts of chopping and hacking. I carried one of these when I worked for the government and liked it so much that I bought one for myself to have back in the "real world". I was taught how to use this knife in CQC School, and let me tell you, it has the strength, heft, and durability to be an extremely lethal weapon in the hands of a trained person. The Kraton handle gives a very secure grip even when you are hot and sweaty. You will need to keep the blade edge oiled to prevent it from rusting. If you use it for a lot of chopping and splitting wood, the black epoxy finish will wear somewhat, but that certainly doesn't hurt the functionality of the blade. I've seen Kabar's, Gerber's, Buck's, Ontario's, United's and others fail in the field, but never a Cold Steel. Their heat treatment and tempering is superior. The edge retention is as good as it gets and they are as tough as they come for a commercially produced knife.

This knife is amazing. It's very thick- you can use it for just about anything. Prying, hacking, whatever you need it for. I've even used it for chopping down small trees. The grip is very comfortable. The knife is well balanced. The blade keeps it's razor sharp edge very well. This knife will never let you down- Well worth the money.

Great log splitter. Good backpacking knife. Thick blade acts like a wedge. Finish will come off. Must keep oiled. Great sheath. Worth the $.
