Designed for the Remington 597, this hardened A2 tool steel extractor is EDM cut to exacting tolerances for improved, long lasting function. Fits 22 Long Rifle, 22 Magnum and 17 HMR. Gunsmith installation is required.

Hardened to 58-60RC

Only thing that would make my 597 fire

Rimfire central has some videos on how to install this, it's pretty easy. My 597 would stove pipe every other round. I tried every fix in the book until I broke down and replaced the extractor. Worked like a charm. My factory extractor looks all beat up and mangled. I don't know how they let them out of the factory like that.

Excellent quality, easy to install, one huge benefit. Like many, my 597 was prone to jamming. Every 5 or so shots, no matter what type of ammo. At first I thought it was the magazine, as is the most common issue. But the first day at the range after installing this, and the problems seem to vanish.

I think this extractor ...

I think this extractor and also the Vol hammer are a must for ALL 597s. It takes them from a gun that I would not bother owning to a worthwhile, fun shooting rifle. I have put these parts on four 597s now. The install is simple enough and the added reliability is worth it to me. Of the 2 parts, the hammer may be an optional nicety that improves trigger feel and pull, but the extractor is totally required if you want to remove or significantly lower the frustration from rim-fire extraction issues. The factory extractors are pretty bad, and hard to improve. I have even had one fly out of the bolt and get lost! This part is worth the investment to me.

Installed in 597 in about 10 min. It used to jam about every 10 shots or so with regular mag but now will run 30 rd mag with no trouble.

I just installed it. I really didn't have any problems before, I couldn't shoot lead bullets. It had to be plated but now I can run a whole 30 rounds out of my mag. without any problems. Good buy, professional quality!!!

The EDM and machining ...

The EDM and machining work are top notch on this product. I'm impressed as I'm a machinest. The factory extractor will at times leave a spent casing in the barrel. Also it has eliminated hung casings in the breach after firing. I highly recommend this item for your 597. If you use this product it's a good time to install the Volquartsen trigger as well it's also a top notch product and will really help the trigger pull.
