The KA-BAR USMC Knife is a replica of the knife carried by Marines throughout World War 2. The oval handle is constructed from compacted leather disks that are smoothed and polished. The black epoxy powder coated, 1095 high carbon steel blade has a razor sharp edge. Both the blade and the leather sheath are stamped with the USMC logo.

Lets start off by saying this is a beautiful knife and it is my opinion that every man should have one. I ordered one for myself and shipped one to my grandpa in South America. If youre going to use it, dont expect it to keep its beautiful looks. I took it on a backpacking trip to the Sierra's and put it to use and a little abuse. Used it to open up cans and that resulted in some of the coating scratching right off the blade. i dont care about that, i think it makes the knife look better. we found some fire wood that was about 8"-10" in diameter and i figured this would be a good chance to put the Kabar to a test. I held the handle and my friend used a log to batton the other end of the blade and we went to town on the big log. took about 5 minutes to make a big enough groove on the log to finally be able to prop it up on a rock, and drop another rock on it to finish the cut. this did a pretty good number on my blade which i expected, it completely dulled it up. when i got home i took it to the knife shot and they sharpened it up like new for $8. in short, if you are going to use and abuse a knife, and expect it to keep its edge, buy something that costs more than $60. otherwise this knife is perfect, i am very happy with it. the sheath it comes with is pretty darn cool too.

Overall this is not a bad ...

Overall this is not a bad reproduction. It seems solid and well built. The edge work left a lot to be desired, very rough with wheel marks. After blackening both sides with a permanent marker, I used the 25 degree setting on my Lansky and started with the coarse stone. The steel in this blade will load up a stone quickly so use oil. Most of both sides did eventually clean up although it did take some effort to straighten out the rough grind. I was disappointed though as the first 3/4 inch from the point back on one side had a double hand grind and the actual cutting edge did not clean up at 25 degrees. It will take special attention to work that section in. Following with the medium and fine stones it did not take long to set a good, sharp edge. Time will tell if this blade will hold an edge as well as the original.

I ordered this product last friday for my brother-in-law and received it the Tuesday after. Great knife, looks perfect in every way, I am planning on ordering 2 more but the shorter versions. Knife was sharp when received, leather sheath has the U.S.M.C. logo on it, and looks very good.

An excellent quality knife! I can depend on this "do everything" knife to do just about anything that a utility knife is called upon to do. It's a nice tool to have while doing jobs around the farm, walking in the woods, fishing or just about anything outdoors.

The quality of the Ka-Bar hasn't changed in the 25 years since my first. This knife will do anything from gutting and filleting trout to cutting wire and splitting wood. There are other knives that will do some things better, but the Ka-Bar can do them all in a pinch. There is no better knife to be stranded with if limited to one tool.
