Product Information

The Lyman 1500 XP features a powder trickler that is removable and reversible, as well as a pop-out storage tray for accessories. This scale has a 1500 grain capacity and is accurate to 1/10 grain. Powered by one 9 volt battery or AC adapter. AC Adapter, powder pan, check weight and cleaning brush are included.

I bought mine in 2008 and set it up & plugged it in following Lyman's instructions. After 2+ years of operation it still works as advertized. I have had to re-calibrate on 3 separate occasions with the supplied "check weight". My only complaint is the powder trickler wobbles little to much and Lyman could have had a better mounting method. Overall, it's always worked and functioned great after countless use's. Yes, I would recommend this scale

I've had nothing but poor performance from this scale. It has always been quirky in it's operation. (I've had it for over a year) Over the last week I have tried to use in 3 different times - now it's acting more like random number generator than a scale. It absolutely will not hold zero and cannot be used with any degree of confidence. I'm back to using a beam scale.

Sorry I have to agree with the others. I am trying to find my receipt to send it back. Scale drifts. You can watch it change weights with nothing on the pad.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other users. This scale simply will not hold zero. I have no confidence in the accuracy of the scale. It is the only Lyman product I have that I would not recommend.

Ordered and received this scale in late January '08, excellent response time and customer service from Midway (as usual). Good features for a reloading scale, especially like the powder trickler placement. The only problem is that this scale under no circumstances will hold zero. Followed the supplied zeroing instructions to the letter, got the scale to zero one time for 6 powder charges, and now cannot get it to re-zero. Tried moving the scale to different locations, etc. all to no avail. Will be ordering an RCBS unit on exchange.

Pros: compact, trickler, pop-out storage tray, dust cover.Cons: Does not give true or accurate readings. Every other time I used the scale I would get variations as much as 1 grain off the same load.

Had the scale for about a year. I only use it for quickly weighing brass or bullets. This scale does not hold a zero for anything. The design with the trickler is great but i don't trust it for powder. It will drift from .5 to 1.1 grains.

I just wanted to get my 2 cents in on the electronic scale review. The advertised accuracy is plus/minus .1 grain which is a .2 grain window. The scale is fast and easy to use to weight brass and bullets but I would not recommend it for working up accurate rifle loads. My scale uses 4 AA batteries not a 9 volt. You must get the scale as level as possible and no fluorescent lights within 3 feet per Customer Support but I have experienced no real problems that I could attribute to fluorescent lighting. It takes a little time to get the initial setup procedures down pat but with a little effort and a call or 2 to Lyman Customer Support (Nice Folks by the way) and those repeatability problems will fall within the .1 grain limit. The scale makes short work of the brass and bullet weight tasks.

Overall, a very neat package. Comes with everything you need, (except maybe a lid for the trickler hopper). Looks great, sets up and works quickly. Problem? It's a poor scale.This is the second one I have had. The first one I sent back to Lyman because it wouldn't stay on zero. It would read zero with an empty pan, but true weight would begin drifting off. Reseetting zero never helped. Recalibrating never helped. After waiting a month to receive a replacement, the second one does the same thing, but in the opposite direction. Neither ever agreed with the lyman calibration weights (always too light). Have tried compensating for the error, but it's never consistant. Have kept tring, talked with different Lyman reps, but have lost all confidence in my pistol loads being within .2 of what I want. Not acceptable.... About ready to send this one back and buy something else. It's been very disappointing.
