Surprisingly effective on deer

Not having used this before, I reserved it's use for a whitetail doe tag. On a medium sized doe (90lbs) at just over 100 yards, the lung shot was through and through, breaking a rib on the far side, the 2nd shot wasn't necessary, but being concerned about her running off the property (farm country) I took a running shot which hit too far back at the base of the spine, but was also exited after breaking the heavier bone at the spine/hip junction. Very little bone fragmentation, just good expansion, wound channel and penetration. After this, I wouldn't hesitate to use this bullet on larger deer.

This bullet does extremely well on deer. I shot a ten point yesterday in the front shoulder @ 30 yards. The bullet dropped him where he stood. had a wound cavity the size of a baseball. The bullet did not exit the other side. Made the vitals unrecognizable. I lined my rifle in at 50 yards and all the holes were touching. You cant go wrong with this one.

Use these to shoot a doe ...

Use these to shoot a doe at 40 yards. Bullet entered the right shoulder exited the left shoulder and turned the heart/lungs into mush. She only went 7 yards before dropping. Outstanding performance. Those who say a .223 is not enough to cleanly and quickly kill white tail have not used these.

My ten year old grandson ...

My ten year old grandson wanted to hunt deer but was having difficulty with recoil in a .243 so I decided to try the .223 Remington. He liked it immediately and the only clear choice in a hunting bullet is the Nosler 60 gr. partition. The reviews were good but I was skeptical until a nice doe was put down within 10 yards of where she was hit on about a 60 yard shot. The partition bullet made a complete pass through taking out the heart, lungs and leaving a devastating wound channel. This is a exceptional round for a young hunter or anyone that has problems with recoil of larger calibers.

Wow... This stuff is great. Shot a 170 hog with it behind her ear from about 75 yards. She feels like a stone and the exit wound was great!!!! Wish I could post it. Looked a lot bigger then a 223. That's for sure.

I took this cartridge to ...

I took this cartridge to South Africa recently for medium to small Plains game (Antelope). It performed extremely well on Springbok (2), Steenbok, Bushbuck, and Mountain Reedbok. The largest animal I took was the medium (160-170 lb live weight) Bontebok, which required two well placed shots in the chest area to harvest. Both bullets were recovered, and although they expanded properly, it is my personal opinion that this bullet is too light for this weight class animal in most cases. Animals weighing 100 lbs or less would be a good limit. My reason for using this bullet was to avoid heavy damage to the cape/skin for mounting consideration. In this purpose, the Nosler 60gr performed very well. I can highly recommend this bullet for light big game.

Accurasy is about 1.25 ...

Accurasy is about 1.25 inch at 100 yards in my Savage rifle. Recoil is nearly non-existant. This little bullet hits hard and behaves like a big game bullet. Never recovered a single bullet because they always zip through the ribs and vanish into the prairie. Despite its small diameter leaving the barrel, this Nosler bullet makes a much larger wound channel as it tears through the chest organs. I sold my .270 a year after this ammo hit the market and never looked back. The apparent small size of .223 bullet is irrelevant when you're looking into the damaged chest cavity of a 275 lb muley that fell over after just one shot from this Nosler bullet.

I took a great 4x3 buck ...

I took a great 4x3 buck using these Federal VitalShok's out of a Ruger Mini-14 @ approx. 75 yards. Complete devastation inside, had no problem getting through skin, bone, organ tissue, and left no exit, which to me translated to a complete energy transfer.Buck traveled less than 10yds from ground zero.Quite a bit more accurate than cheap bulk ammo when punching paper as well.

I was hesitant to use ...

I was hesitant to use .223 Remington on Whitetail Deer, but my latest hunt called for a round with less punch than my .308 or 30-06. After reading the review that was posted on 5/10/2005, I decided to to try this ammunition. Today, I took an 8 point Buck with one shot behind the shoulder at approximately 50 yards. The bullet passed completely through the deer leaving a "Nickle" sized exit. The deer collapsed immediately. I am now sold on this round if I intend on taking close shots inside 150 yards.

My 8 year old son took ...

My 8 year old son took his first deer with this load on 11-1-08. The Partition is the only bullet I would ever consider using for deer in 223, and it did the job perfectly as expected. A perfectly placed double lung shot at 30 yards by an 8 year old, and his doe was down within sight, she ran about 30 yards. Exit hole was the size of a quarter! Vivid blood trail that was not needed. If you have a youngster that is recoil shy, and 223 is as much as they can handle, get them plenty of range time with a 223 and when they CAN HIT WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO, the Partition will not let you down when the big moment comes.
