This is a "drop-in" piece. Fits nice and snug. I only gave it a 4 star though because the image showed it pre-drilled/tapped but it does not come that way. You either have to do it yourself or have a gunsmith do it for you.

This is in fact a drop in piece. I had no problems, and it did not require any professional gunsmithing. It was just what my 35 Rem. needed. A no hassle part for a great price. Also, Midway was the only place with the part available.

Part replaced original band on my 336 .35 Rem beautifully. Finish was nice and it was already tapped. Don't know what the previous poster was shipped. Required some minor fitting to get holes to line up. Looks just like the original.
