A must-have for the Ruger ...

A must-have for the Ruger single-action shooter. This part can work loose, and you pretty much need the special tool to tighten it without marring it. Use some low-strength threadlocker.

There is nothing like ...

There is nothing like having the "right" tool for the job. I recently purchased a competition set of springs to improve my Ruger New Vaqueros for Cowboy Action Shooting. The kit included a higher poundage Cylinder Base Pin Latch spring. Problem was that there is a "post" in the middle of the spring base cap that's slotted on either side. Wheeler saved the day with the right tool for the job. The cost of this product saved me a 37 mile round trip to the somewhat local gunsmith plus the price of his smithy work and another trip to pick up my firearms. Chances are he would have ordered from Midway to finish the work. I now have the right tool to help "tighten up" prior to any competition match. I'm feeling good about my purchase and my wallet... thanks!

I will only rate it a 3 ...

I will only rate it a 3 because I still had to file its width down to fit the slot on my brand-new Blackhawk. For the price of this bit, I feel I should not have to put extra labor to fit it. Other than that, I couldn't find another bit for the job elsewhere, and after 10 minutes of careful filing, it was ready to do its work. If you have a Ruger single-action, you'll definitely need this one. No regrets with my purchase.

I have six single action ...

I have six single action Rugers: 2 Single-sixes; 3 Blackhawks; and 1 Super Blackhawk. This only fit the two oldest base pin latches. I had to slightly grind and polish this with a Dremel tool for it to fit the other four. As purchase, it would not enter the slots at all. It now comfortably fits all of them. I would still recommend this bit for the life saver it is. Just be advised that a small amount of work may be required for it to fit perfectly.
