Blue Wonder Gun Blue is a proprietary two-part solution. The first solution chemically bonds the ingredients to the surface of the steel. The second solution chemically activates and colors the bonded surface, much like developing a photograph. Blue Wonder applies quickly and easily with outstanding results. It looks and wears like "hot" blue.

Kit Includes:

2 fl oz Gun Bluing Solution (enough for approximately 4 long guns)

1/2 fl oz Gun Bluing Developer (enough for approximately 4 long guns)

1 fl oz Gun Cleaner

Notes:

Metal must be heated with a propane torch or hairdryer

Applies a "factory-like" blue.

Will not affect existing blue; only adheres to bare metal.

Contains selenious acid, phosphoric acid, gold, silver, copper and nickel.

Not for use on aluminum, stainless steel or zinc alloys.

After reading the positive reviews, I had to give Blue Wonder Gun Blue a try. First, I pulled out a CVA .45 caliber single-shot black-powder pistol I built as a kid over 25 years ago. The home-applied bluing kit originally provided with this kit was marginal at best. When I pulled this pistol out of the safe last week, it had turned almost completely orange, inside and out, with rust. I took to it immediately with steel wool, heat from the hair dryer, and the Blue Wonder cleaner. The outer barrel was down to bare, clean metal in less than half an hour. Next, I got busy with a wire brush and the BW cleaner on the bore. Forty-five minutes later, it was glistening. Now, the ultimate test...I heated the barrel again with the dryer, wiped it down, and started applying the Blue Wonder bluing liquid. After 15 coats, applied in less than 10 minutes, I applied the developer and set the barrel aside for the night. The next morning, I was pleased to find that once orange-rust barrel nearly as dark and polished as a new factory finish. I'm sold. Blue Wonder is worth double the asking price -- if not more. I touched up the barrel on my T/C Hawken, the receiver on my pre-war Winchester 94, and on my 35-year-old Ithaca shotgun. All benefited greatly appearance-wise. I t was easy and quick to match the Blue Wonder finish to the factory blue. Buy this stuff! I've already re-ordered.

Tried Blue Wonder a year ago on a Russian 1937 Nagant pistol. In fact tried it 3 times. It didn't work. The bluing would never set up and dry correctly. Sent that pistol out to be done right.3-26-05 ordered the new Black version from manufacturing company directly for a blackpowder kit. Followed the cleaning instructions 100%, twice, in hopes of getting a good result this time. Still won't work for me.I know about the stainless steel and other metals that it won't work on and that it must be cleaned to their specs.I will never again use this product and hope you save your money too. Buy a different brand.

restored an old Stephen 311 20 guage side by side. Took my time and got a deep blue luster. It was easy to use and dircetions were understandable and easy to follow. It is a little messy or maybe it is just me. I reccommend using outside if the weather is nice.

The first time I applied the product it looked awesome I put in in my living room against the wall two weeks later I looked at it and it was rusted I thought wow, so I went to my shop and hit it with steel wool it was awesome again then I looked at the directions again and it said I could reapply the bluing, so I followed the directions and it looked better than the first bluing,and better yet it has not rusted and it has been two month and it has no rust. I have sent parts to have them hot blued and I cannot tell the differance between the two blue jobs. The prep job is very important and it will look like a black pearl

I recently bought this product after reading & watching some videos at youtube. I decided to give it a try. I have a used Ruger 10/22 barrel. To be honest, this product does Not work as advertise & you'll be spending lot of time trying to make it work & get the nice blue finish that you're never going to obtain.

I started using this product when I restored my 1882 Swiss Vetterli rifle. The rifle was covered in surface rust. After three months of carefully restoring the metal surface back to bare steel, I applied the Blue Wonder product with amazing results. The absolute key is preparation. If you do not clean the metal of all oil, dirt, rust etc, and heat the metal (I use a propane torch) to drive out the moisture, then the blue will not work. But if you do and wear latex gloves so as not to reintroduce oil from your fingers, it will work nicely. This product is great for restoring old guns as well as new.

I bought a Blue Wonder Kit several months ago and finally got around to using it. I have completely disassembled 6 long guns, stripped the bluing and re-blued them with one kit. They turned out as good or slightly better than the original hot bluing. Had I not tipped over the bottle I might have been able to get another half dozen guns blued with the same kit. I will only use this bluing from now on. It makes perma blue look shabby. Plus a little Blue Wonder goes a long way.

Wonder of wonders, a "cold" blue that actually works as advertised. Actually, its a "hot" blue as you need to heat the part(s) thoroughly. Great for minor touchup jobs as it doesn't affect existing finish. AND - NO ROTTEN EGG SMELL!

It took me a few tries to get the technique down but once I did it turned out beautiful. The only reason I gave it four stars and not five is because it doesn't hold up like a hot tank blue job. If it is applied to any surface on the firearm that comes into contact with another it will wear off sooner than a traditional blue.

Nothing beats hot bluing .With that being said, I have cold blued whole guns and used cold bluing touch up for years. Blue Wonder works very well. I have used Oxpho-Blue for years and it is the best on the market but Blue Wonder is a close second. It works best if you do not strip the old finish off completely. Just remove the rust and leave the original bluing as much as possible and follow the instructions. I laugh when people expect to get the durability and look from cold bluing like a hot blue. What do you expect for $25.00.
