The Legacy Sports replacement trigger allows the Howa M-1500 short action rifle to accept 5-round and 10-round polymer magazines. The replacement trigger guard is a drop-in replacement for the factory Howa floor plate. This unit will also work with short action Weatherby Vanguard Rifles, Smith & Wesson Howa rifles, and Mossberg Howa rifles.

On the plus side, Works ...

On the plus side, Works great, and feels sturdy (more so than the magazine). Easy to install, good fit. On the downside, the magazine retention lever seems very lightweight and vulnerable to damage. Its also very very easy to activate. Less than a pound or two of force and the mag is free. Because of its position at the front it seems that it would be very easy for it to be accidentally activated when moving through brush or going prone. I plan to grind this lever down to about half its size to help with this problem.

Easy to install. Feels ...

Easy to install. Feels sturdy, one-piece plastic, equal to the plastic in the OEM weatherby vanguard stock. This said, a hardened aluminum or SS forged/milled part would be worth $130 to me. One way this could be better would be to use very common steel mil-spec/mil-surp magazines, rather than the proprietary magazines limited to 10 rounds max. As an initial entry into this function for the Howa1500, this product is great. Recommended.

*Before ordering, download Legacy's installation instructions from their website.Likes: Cost effective. 15 minute, drop-in, easy installation (tho mine needed shimmed). Magazine fits tight, without any wobble. Bolt picks up shells smoothly and perfectly every time.Dislikes: Cheap plastic! (tho knew that when I ordered) Assemby twists a little where it's bolted down, it's just the give in the plastic.I'd really like to see someone make this exact design out of metal in either a black or stainless look! The only other alternatives are a couple hundred bucks and require modification to the stock. Overall I'm pleased, since my scope makes it hard to load from the top.
