With the fixed ring ...

With the fixed ring forward I can't get my scope far enough back to give a proper scope relief and a good sight picture. Fortunately you can swap front for rear. These mounts are very well made, but this is my first experience with the 'standard' mount and I think I prefer the alignment ease of the QR mounts and the adjustability of a Weaver base.

I mounted a set at the ...

I mounted a set at the dealer. I have a Savage 16 left hand .308. And see that part with the screw? That's the rear mount and it hangs over the ejector port all the way to the relief part where the mount screw is. The shell will eject, but over half jam and it really looks stupid. I hope you understand that my dealer brought many scopes out and the 1 inch tube is to short to buy two sets and use two front bases.That's why the mount hangs over the port, to ring the scope, if you use two front bases it's about 1/2" to short to work. I also can't get scope back any further. I'm here to look for Weaver mounts. That must be what Savage wanted me to use. I just can't see that hanging over the ejector port about an inch. How bad can it get.

These bases do not work ...

These bases do not work on the Savage Model 16 with a round receiver. The rear base interferes with the movement of the bolt. I had to return mine for something else.
