GREAT SCOPE - GREAT ...

GREAT SCOPE - GREAT VALUE!!! You bang any scope against a tree you will knock it off zero.I first came across a Simmons 8 Point at a second hand shop in the Ozarks. I bought it at a dirt cheap price and put it on a .270WSM. It did so well I bought another (ordered from Midway)and put it on my Rem SPR 221 .45-70 double rifle. Again it performed outstandingly. Most recently I ordered our 3rd and put it on a '95 Marlin .45-70. Lots of fast shooting culling hogs with every load from the Hornady Leverevolution 325 gr smashers, Winchester 300 gr hollow points, Remington 405 gr jacketed soft points to Buffalo Bore heavies - absolutely NO PROBLEMS. Straight from a heated cabin into freezing snowy damp conditions no problem....heavy recoil...no problem. These hold zero (as long as they are COMPETENTLY mounted....lol)A GREAT BUY!!!!!......ps...at this moment ordering our 4th...to go on our other .45-70 guide gun

I have an older version. It holds zero. The reticle is a little thick, but that is good for low light. Not as bright as more expensive scopes, but still very nice optics. Eye relief is a little short at higher magnifications. If you stay dialed down to 6X or less, you should have no problems. Mine is on a 30-06. I like its vintage Redfield business-like appearance. No fogging as of yet. It gets a five for value. If I knew it wouldn't fog, it would get a four. Have not had it out in rain.

After 37 rounds fired, the rear portion of the scope fell out. The plastic "guide pins" for the focus adjustment had sheared off. It held a good zero until that happened.

This is in all reality a bad scope. I have had pretty bad luck with this scope. It won't hold a zero if you hunt with it. If it even slips against a tree and bumps hard it knocks it way off. More or less its an example of "You Get What You Pay For."

Wow, this scope has to beat any other in the price range. I have it on my .22. I recently purchase a Winchester mod 70 that came with a Simmons scope so I thought great another fine scope, boy was I wrong. I am so used to the blazer that it made the one on my Winchester look like crap. I am going to get either another one or a master series next. I am very happy to have the blazer.

This scope came as part of a package bought for a Christmas present; mounted on a .308. The crosshairs never were perpendicular from the first day of use. It worked fair for about 6 months of practice shooting, but one day during a practice session started shooting about 6 feet low (in the dirt 30 yards in front of the target). It appears to be a very fragile scope. I would recommend spending more money to get a better quality scope, and don't buy a package deal that includes this scope.

This scope is a fair weather scope wet or cold weather is not kind to scope. I found it to fog up easily under these conditions. I would also suggest keeping on a light rifle, as the scope does not seem to like the recoil of a deer size rifle.
