Gas piston upgrade for your AR-15. Switching to a gas piston operating system from a direct gas impingement one leads to a cleaner and cooler operating rifle. This should lead to fewer malfunctions and considerably more time between cleanings. The OPS-416 kit is a true drop-in gas piston conversion, installing easily in a few minutes with a minimum of tools or technical expertise.

Available for carbine, mid, and rifle length gas systems

For barrel diameters no greater than .875"

Compatible with the following calibers: 223 Rem/5.56x45mm NATO, 5.45x39mm Russian, 7.62x39mm Russian, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8mm Rem SPC

The BEST piston ...

The BEST piston conversion out there. If you already have a piston AR you should chuck the piston and buy this conversion. No adjustment knobs because it doesn't need them. You can run your AR with a suppressor, on full auto, whatever, without issue. The piston is basically self cleaning. Your bolt and carrier stay cool and clean so you don't need your AR drowning in oil to run properly.Do yourself a favor and buy this NOW.

Installed the Osprey Gas Piston Kit on my Colt AR15A3, 16" Heavy barrel Law Enforcement version 6921. Installation went well except for the gas block pin. The pin doesn't install easily by any means. This is a new weapon out of the box, weapon cycles like butter, shot 1/2" group, and the weapon functioned flawlessly, after shooting, the action was very clean.

Well designed product except the front pin that goes into the gas block. Damaged my gas block installing the pin, had to replace block. Other than that everything went well. Company is excellent to work with as far any problems you have, stands behind product and will go the extra mile for a customer.

I installed this system on my CAR-15 that has a float tube. After some modification to the float tube and pistion, everthing came together very well. I put in a flat wire buffer spring to dampen the increase in recoil and I am very satified with the weapons performance. After a 300 rnd torture test, no missfires, jams, etc. Kit works well with cheap steel cased or handloaded ammo. The receiver stayed cool and cleaning time is cut in half, especially with dirty ball powder. Planning on installing another kit in the full length AR.

This does exactly what it says. I have mine on a S&W 5.45x39 upper, and have shot 4 tins of corrosive ammo without one single failure. Installation was easy, and the piston system is simple. I have always been an AK guy, but after putting the osprey kit on my 5.45x39 upper, I always bring the AR every trip to the range. After over 4,000 rounds of corrosive ammo, the osprey kit still looks brand new. I will use the Osprey kit from now on, for every AR upper I ever buy. AR with the reliability of an AK!

I had been looking at a gas piston conversion on one of my AR-15's for years and looked at this product back then but, they were a new company and were only doing military and law enforcement contracts. It was real easy to install suggest you watch the video from their website first it will take the confusion about the guide bushing out of play. Went to the range unloaded 240 rounds in a short time pulled the bolt and carrier out with the barrel hot enough to cook breakfast on and placed it in my hand, it was ice cold and clean. I will be buying more.

So far So good. The kit installs pretty easily. The pin that needs to driven into the front site post is a real pain though. I had to hit it harder than I wanted to. Otherwise it seems to function just like they say. No Jams. Worked great in the pouring rain. I've shot about a hundred rounds through it so far and I think I'm seeing signs of carrier tilt. Hope not.
