The angle and comfort of this grip is infinitely better than the original FAL design. As far as overmolded grips go, the Hogue overmolded offerings have thicker rubber and better fit and finish than the Ergo in my opinion, but they do not have an offering for the FAL. BEFORE YOU ORDER THIS - make sure that you take a look at your selector when it is in the fire (R) position. If ANY of it hangs down below the bottom of the lower receiver, this grip will probably interfere with its movement. If you have an L1A1 style "clubfoot" selector or similar design, there is a good chance that you won't be able to reach the fire position due to the lack of cutout/clearance on the left side of this grip. I like the large selector, so I opted to cut a radius into the rubber and then peel that portion away under where my selector needs to travel. The plastic underneath won't be smooth, so you'll have to sand the bare plastic area down somewhat to make it presentable if you're concerned about aesthetics. It was worth making the modification in my case, as I think that the improvement in feel and angle was worth the extra trouble though I wish that it would have been narrow (or clearanced) enough at the top of the grip to clear my selector without modification.

Just received my Ergo G3 Grip yesterday. Installation was fairly straightforward and easy enough. I have not shot the gun with the new grip yet, but in the hands it feels much better than the stock FAL grip. The angle is much easier to reach the safety and feels much more natural. The grip does NOT limit the safety movement, other than not allowing it to move to the unusable full auto position. Having the FAL Combo Tool would have made the installation much easier, but it was still easy enough without. Overall a great product and I would would easily recommend to anyone with a FAL as an easy UPGRADE.

While the fit and feel of this grip is excellent it is very narrow and seems to have been made for small hands. I reinstalled my orignal grip due to it being so narrow. As I said the fit is perfect and nice feel to the grip so am sad it did not agree with my hand.

A small correction to my previous review. Once I had the extended safety installed, I realized that the extended thumb pad on the safety is not flat with the receiver but is actually raised few millimeters above the surface. So, putting the this grip back on the gun I was pleasantly surprised to see that the extended safety clears the grip without the need for the cutout. The safety was engaging the bottom notch, albeit very softly. I still had to use an exacto knife and cut a sliver or rubber of the top of the grip and now everything works as it's supposed to.Still I would only give it 2 stars for fit and ease of installation but 5 stars for comfort.

My experience was very similar to Alan's. It was not a good fit for DSA SA-58. The good parts about the grip: 1. Material is very conforming and feels good in the hand2. Grip angle is good, very comfortable to hold for aimed shooting, unlike the standard FAL grip. Now the bad parts: 1. There is a block of plastic inside that acts as a spacer. It generally gets pushed out when fitting the grip to the frame and needs to be pushed back in. Once in all the way, there is enough threads exposed for a good hold. However, the inside dimensions are too tight, making it impossible to start the grip nut. Also, the metal pin that acts as a hinge for the bottom cover is almost over the grip nut area, making it difficult to use the special tool or the regular screwdriver to tighten the grip nut. 2. The fact that there is no safety lever cutout should not have been an issue using standard safety lever. However the grip is thick enough and comes up high enough that even a standard safety lever will not go down enough to engage the "Fire" notch. While the gun would fire, it is very possible that the force of the recoil could eventually jar the safety out of "Fire" and possibly engage the safety. One would need to cutout about 2mm notch in the grip for the standard safety to function correctly. 3. The extended safety is not usable with this grip without extensive modifications. Even with grip nut issues this could have been the perfect grip, but the problems with safety lever makes this grip useless unless one is able and willing to make necessary modification.

This grip installed easily on my DSA STG-58. No problems at all. It fits perfectly. It remedies the awkward wrist angle of the original grip. The grip is comfortable and not slippery like the original plastic grip.

I am puzzled by the other reviews, because the one I got did not fit a DSA STG-58. There were two problems: internal dimensions were off so the grip nut caught only a few threads, resulting in a weak attachment, and there was no safety-lever cutout, which interfered with the safety and prevented it from going all the way down. Apart from these serious defects, it was good materials and comfortable - but the fit problems made it useless for me.
