I had a little hesitation ...

I had a little hesitation on purchasing the mount due the "cut out" in the middle of the Picatinny rail. I planned on mounting a Leupold Mark 4 scope and I was afraid the gap in the rail would allow the ejecting brass to hit the bottom of the scope or the right turret. I shot the rifle for the first time today and after the first couple rounds everything looked good. However after the 6th or 7th round I notice a piece of brass had indeed chipped the finish of the edge of the bottom of the scope. It happened a second time on one of the next three rounds. Needless to say I'm returning the mount, buying a Sadlak which has a solid rail, and going to send the scope in to Leupold to have it retubed. Another disadvantage of the cut out in the rail is that it limits the type of optics you can mount - only a scope, no way to mount a ACOG or EOTech on the short rail. The short rail sections also limit the placement of the scope rings. On a positive note the installation of the mount was quick and simple plus my first two rounds at 25 yards was almost dead on - very little zeroing needed. The mount aligned much better than the Springfield Armory 3rd generation mounts.

This scope mount suffers ...

This scope mount suffers from multiple design flaws; the mount has no provision or feature to allow the clip guide screw to engage the mount itself, allowing the mount to easily move up and down the screw and negating the rear attachment point in its entirety. The mount also completely lacks a left side key, a small feature included on most Brookfield-style mounts of this type to relieve the cam washer and hex screw of any torsional or lateral force. As this mount is built, the only attachment point that is in opposition to the forces generated by recoil is the hex key and cam washer in the side, with no positive engagement of the receiver at any other point; without the key that is designed to fit in to the groove machined into the left side of the receiver, the end result is that the mount WILL come loose within 20-40 rounds of firing.I would not recommend this mount to anyone. If I knew then what I know now, I would not purchase it myself. I was unfortunate enough to purchase one and can say that the only satisfactory element of the entire process was that Springfield was very responsive in issuing me a refund.

This mount works great if ...

This mount works great if you follow instructions. A triangle file and a punch you can make sure it fits tight. Tighten the bolts with a little thread lock, youre in business.

I would have never bought ...

I would have never bought this mount if I knew the problems that came with it. Basically for me what I have found is that the cam washer and cam bolt come undone after 10-20 rounds Im very disappointed in the mount.

Mounting hardware would ...

Mounting hardware would not fit through the front machined holes in the mount. I had to take my grinder and remove the edges off of the bolt head prior to installation. I contacted customer service at S.A. to notify them of the problem. Very disappointed in their quality control.
