Like most of these say opening and closing requires you to push mainly on the hinge itself but with a dab of clp breakfree it gets far easier to operate. Very sturdy easy to install.

Great Product!!!! I put this along with the 8.5" stock and a MI rail with a vortex sparc on my WASR 10/63 and refinished the rifle with duracoat. It looks great and it's nice having a side folding stock now. In my opinion it's a bit pricey but one of the best side folding stocks on the market. The ACE FSM has a very nice fit and finish.

Upon installation, I found the same thing as "JA" did; the mechanism was extremely stiff and difficult to fold and unfold, compared to an older ACE unit I have had for a while. I put some lube on it, and now it works great, with maybe a slightly tighter lockup than the old unit. I think they started using a stronger spring, since I can find no other differences between the two. So, if you buy one of these and find it to be difficult to operate, put a little oil around the hinge pin and on the surfaces that rub when you first start to extend it. I found the difference to be night and day.

I've installed two of these (along with the ACE 7.5' skeleton stock and ACE universal stamped receiver block) on both of my MAK-90s. They are rock solid. I set mine to fold to the left. When extended, it is like a fixed stock. Moving from folded to extended is smooth and takes little effort. I finally have the set-up I wanted. Great product, easy install.

I have this folding block on a gas piston SBR 223 with Ace's ultra-light stock. It is perfect. Locks up 100% with no movement. Opening takes just a bit of practice and technique. Very easy with a little practice. Most people try to muscle it open, but I can release it with just my pistol grip hand thumb without changing my grip on the rifle.

Are you as strong as Hercules? If so, this is the folding adapter for you. No, you're not? Then get the push button adapter. It's $20 more, and worth twice that. This thing does its job, it's ROCK SOLID, but in the end, it's so difficult to fold/unfold, that I bought the push button release and tossed this one in my parts drawer.
