Hogue Shotgun Stocks are molded from a super tough fiberglass reinforced polymer ensuring stability and accuracy. These superior stocks are durable, weatherproof and non-slip. The grip of the stock and the entire forend are OverMolded with soft rubber for outstanding handling. The adapter nut (643-889) is needed when installing Hogue OverMolded forends on Mossberg 6-3/4" forend tubes. Black.

Mossberg shotguns with 6 3/4" forend tubes will require an adapter nut, product number 643889.

In some instances the the forend may not fit to the magazine tube. Hogue recommends the following fix: Where the nut starts on the forend, use a drum sander or a dremel tool and drop down inside the forend aproximately 1/4" and slightly remove the ribs just so the nut can slide down inside.

I have a Mossberg 590 and ...

I have a Mossberg 590 and I bought the additional nut for this grip. You don't need it. The OE one works just fine. If you put that big extended nut on there, you will not be able to close your chamber. The other poster said that you can file it down or whatever. I just used my old one and tightened the hell out of it. Just got back from NRA headquarters firing range after I realized that the oversized nut was banging against the heat shield attachment. Super. Standing there rubbing my non-chambered tube for a half hour. But at least I got a nice NRA badge. As for the grip itself, it is superb. Much better than the Kmart plastic that it was before. So, in short, Mossberg 590, grip good, nut bad. If I get a better idea than using the OE nut, I'll repost. But so far I'm seething from wasting a day of prime shooting time because of a nut.

Ok if you own a Mossberg ...

Ok if you own a Mossberg 500a, specifically the 50482 model don't buy this. Newer 500's have a different forend assembly, where the forend is directly connected to the action slide bars, and the magazine tube diameter is way smaller than the inside of this grip, after hours of calling and trying to explain this to Hogue, and returning products again and again I've found that the only ones who understand this and have a solution is Mossberg themselves. you have to order the action slide assembly, with forend which will come with the bars in the forend and the adapter inside the forend to make it fit. It's $60 with shipping. If you order a forend anywhere else you will be stuck with a grip that is too wide, and won't move the action slide bars.

Excellent fit and feel, but if you need the extended nut for the 6 3/4" tube, you will HAVE TO file, or sand down the ribs inside of the Hogue forend grip for the extended nut to fit inside it to hold the new forend on.This is one of those things you find out when you go to put it on, 'cause it's not mentioned anywhere. I had to do it with sandpaper, which took a long time, but it would be real easy to do if you have a Dremel tool.I think it is worth the effort because the Hogue forend has a great feel to it.
