Having used Lee Products for years I picked up a set of these for this new caliber. I find them to be a typical Lee product, that is a great value for what you pay. Mine work fine. I am forming brass from .223 casings without issue. The finish is nice and smooth (unlike one poster found), and everything seems fine with them. I used my band saw to cut off the tops of .223 brass at the shoulder, then run the brass though the decapper/sizer die. Then I run that though the case trimmer to get the finished length just right and I have a ready to prime and load 300 AAC case. Now I also have the Lee crimping die and that takes care of business! Couldn't be more simple.

The dies work great for ...

The dies work great for reforming and bullet seating. However, the seating die does not crimp, even though the directions clearly indicate how to set it to crimp. Guess I'll have to fork out for a FCD, didn't really need much in the way of crimping but I load cast and I do have to remove the flair that is required to seat cast bullets. Took a couple of stars off for that.

I've wanted a rifle in 300 AAC Blackout for over a year as I think it is a GREAT round for hunting deer here in upstate NY.I had about 200 .223 Rem that had something wrong with them that I couldn't reload for .223 Rem BUT would be good from the taper down = OK to reload for the .300 AAC Blackout. Nothing beats recycling as Im all for it!I priced EVERY brand of dies and just couldn't justify the cost of any of them except the Lee dies. I tried quite a few methods of cutting the tapered throat area off of the .223 Rem cases. A small hack saw, Dremel tool with a composite cutoff blade, and finally a Dremel with a metal cutoff blade. The small hacksaw seemed to work the best BUT killed my old arthritic hands. The composite cutoff blades worked OK but only lasted a couple of shells which made that expensive. The metal cutoff blade does a decent job so thats the method Im using now.Forming the brass turned out to be a real challenge for me. I could get the shells to fit the RedXArms breach so that the bolt would lock up! I must have re-read the Lee dies setup directions a dozen times before I FINALLY understood that they wanted the press to over center to form the neck of the case.The two things missing from the set is a case to bullet crimp die and a (mouth of the case) expander (die).Other than that, the .300 AAC Blackout Lee dies are a good investment.

I have used Lee dies for a while now and they are the best bang for your buck dies. I used a rotozip to chop off 223 casing at the neck and ran them through these dies for make 300blk out cases. Gave it a four star because the decapper and resizing rod keeps getting stuck inside the case. If you do get these dies please make sure to tighten the collet holding the decapper rod

I have been using Lee dies for 30 years, 44 45,357 9mm ,10mm,6.8, 223,never had a problem . The bullet seater seems to grab the bullets and is not user freindly . I bought two sets of these dies and hope the other set is better.The 1 star reviews all seem to have the same problem LEE. stay tuned

I've used Lee dies successfully for a couple of pistol calibers over the years. However I won't be buying any more for rifle cartridges. The seater looks like a very roughly machined part that had no further finishing. It is so rough as received that it grabs the 150gr FMJBT that I'm loading and actually pulls them back out anywhere from 6-15 thousandths of an inch. The full length sizer is also poorly finished and leaves the brass looking like it's been sanded vertically.In that I really needed to get some ammunition loaded, I improvised a way to polish of some of the worst of the rough edges on the seater. It still marks the bullets but at least it doesn't leave them seated at random depths. After my bank account recovers from completing my AR project, I'll be replacing both of these really poor quality Lee dies with something from a manufacturer that knows how to polish things where they need it. If the working surfaces on the Lee dies had as much attention to that on the working surfaces as they have on the outside, they would be somewhere between 3 and 4 stars.I'm pretty much done buying Lee dies.

Great dies for the money. Initial case forming from 223 is quite easy. I haven't experienced any marks on the brass that I would say are excessive or would give me cause for concern. Nice, inexpensive way to get into this caliber.

These dies work great! Used a mini chop saw to trim off the necks of 223 cases, sized and trimmed. Never had any problems with Lee Dies.
