Worked great for about three trips to the range, and then the little plastic strap holding the diopter disk on broke. Useless from there on out. Really should be better made for the price.

I will accept the comments from other raters about the effectiveness of this aperture device, although after my first use at an indoor range I am not convinced (it could be a lighting issue). I don't debate the physics involved. However, even with its cost only 1/4th that of the Merit aperture, this thing is grossly overpriced. It is two small plastic pieces snapped together that couldn't have cost more than ten cents to produce. Realizing that I can be accused of comparing apples and oranges, take a look at Lee's primer pocket cleaner. It is steel, double ended to fit large and small pockets, knurled, and blued. It sells for two dollars. If this Lyman device were steel and had a carrying case, I could accept the price. If Lee made this optic aid instead of Lyman, it would sell for a dollar. Before investing, cut a piece of masking tape, punch a 1/16th inch hole in it, and stick it on your glasses to see if it helps. You might save $18.

It works well enough in low to medium light levels. It does improve depth of field vision a significant amount in the right environment, but brighter lighting conditions, such as partly cloudy to full sun, are too much for this gadget to be of much benefit.The subject of price makes me embarrassed to admit I own one, however.If the aperture was adjustable or interchangeable, I could use it much more often.

This thing really works! I have it on my shooting glasses, and it has made a significant improvement in my ability to keep the front sight and target in focus at the same time. If you are older and find that you are having a hard time keeping the target in focus over "iron sights", then this may be the answer to your problem. Mine works equally well for both pistol and rifle, although I do have to change the device's position on my shooting glasses when changing weapon types. I give it a definite "thumbs up"!!

A good shooters optical aid that really stays on my eyeglasses. I highly recommend over the much more expensive and adjustable ones like sold by Merit Corp for $65.
