This one is Going Back

I bought one of these last year and it worked GREAT. It increased the capacity of my 16-round magazine to 21 rounds and has worked without a problem at all. So I decided to get another one this year. Well, this one is going back. Regardless of what I do, it only holds 2 additional rounds so the mag now holds 18 rounds. This is NOT what I had in mind when I ordered this +5 extension, so it is going back to Midway. Sorry, I really DID want to make it work, but there is absolutely no way I can add more than +2 even when using a UpLula loader.

Sorry. This is my second review as I tried them again at a match. When I tried putting more than 12 rounds in the mag, the base extension came off and shot out in the open. I had to hunt down the base and spring. I had them on the table and using an uplula loader that is what happened. I thought it was just that one base, but nope, it happened on two others. I had to put the stock base plates back on to shoot the match. Bummer. These things do not work for me.

I purchased 3 of these extensions and am not too happy with them. First off, my mags hold 12 rounds stock. These are supposed to add 3 more rounds. Nope, I still cant get more than 12 rounds in them. I took them apart and tried them again, same thing. Bummer. I should have just bought another 12 round mag. I still used them in a match this past Saturday and they drop free ok, just cant get any more rounds in them.

It is a good product and it does what it says it will. You get the 15 rounds in the stock Springfield magazine however you will not be able to drop the mag' out smoothly like you do with factory mags' or with MEC GAR mags. So if you don't mind having to manually draw the magazine out of the mag-well go for it. Otherwise stick to other aftermarket magazines if you want more than 12 rounds to carry.

Purchased one of these at the end on June for testing with my 4" Springfield XD 9. Attached this to my standard Springfield 16 round magazine, and let's just say, I LOVE IT!! Take a 16 round magazine and make it 21 rounds, a nice addition to my XD. I do only load the mag to 20, just to re-leave some stress from the spring. I haven't had any failure to feeds with it so far, or any other issues. Magazine drops free every time. I've put FMJ and JHP through the magazine and it works well. The magazine feels great with the checkering on the bottom of the base plate. I'm ordering more of these for the rest of my Springfield XD magazines. I've never tried it on any non-factory magazines, don't have any. I always use factory magazines for my XD. Great Product!!! I use a Midway USA Tactical Pistol Case (http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=160870) and the magazine with the extension, still fits in the mag pouches on the front with no issues. GREAT PRODUCT !!!

Despite being somewhat skeptical, I ordered two of these for my XD40. To my surprise, they work perfectly. I use the provided mag spring (which is supposedly optional), and I have not had any trouble with feeding, cycling, or having the slide lock back after the last round. I AM able to fit an extra three rounds in the mags with these extensions, but I do have to use an Uplula loader...and even then it takes a bit of effort. As another reviewer mentioned, it is a bit difficult to get a fully loaded mag to drop...but, in my experience, that is also sort of an issue with the original 12-round mags. My only suggestion would be to try to make the extension "match" better with the shape of the XD frame - they kind of look ugly on the pistol. However, I am very impressed overall, as they seem to function perfectly. To this day, it amazes me that Springfield does not make a similar product (or an OEM mag for more than 12 rounds) for XD40s.

I've only had this for a short time but so far it has worked perfectly. I have shot several magazines worth of ammo through it at the range and have had NO problems at all. I really like the 21-rounds reload for a carry pistol.

Base plates slip right ...

Base plates slip right off when I grab them from the mag holster. also when I fully load my mags (12rd mag + 3 round ext) 15rds, the mags will not drop free. I have to take a round out to keep them at 14 so they will drop free. my money would have been better spent on another 12rd mag
