The Daniel Defense Omega X Rail is a 2-piece, Free Floating AR-15 Handguard featuring an uninterrupted top rail platform and extremely durable construction comprised of CNC-Machined 6061-T6 Aircraft Grade Aluminum with a Type III Hard Coat Anodized Finish. The Omega X provides a rock solid quad rail platform that is ideal for attaching tactical accessories, yet it remains trim and lightweight, with an oval shape to feel like traditional handguards and maintain the lively, nimble handling characteristics that define the AR platform. The 12.0 FSP configuration features a cutout in the top rail to accommodate a carbine length gas system and fixed front sight base, while also providing a full length handguard for greater versatility. Comes complete with set of integral, ambidextrous, limited rotation QD sling swivel attachment points.

I agree with another post that this was a little too "tacticool" for me. However, if you want a FF rail that allows you to extend your grip and also keep the FSP, this is about the best option. The narrow grip is outstanding. As for the tool, I don't know how you could put this on and not mess up the barrel nut without it. I had it on in 1/2 hour and it is rock solid. I was worried about the set screws but after 2 carbine classes there is zero signs of loosening. Most armorers and tech manuals recommend NON GRAPHITE moly grease for the barrel nut threads.

This is the second Daniel Defense Omega rail I have installed. They are the only rails I will put on my AR's. This one is rock solid. Easy to install but beware that the clearance for the front sight block has very tight clearance. I have a JP Adjustable A2 front sight block and I had to use a Dremel and file to make it fit. It turned a 30 minute install to an afternoon adventure. However, I am so happy with the final results a I cannot help but give this a 5 star review.

Excellent rail. I bought this for my Daniel Defense M4 (naturally), and it bolted right up. It has a very solid feel, and gives you tons of rail area for accessories. And of course, the main feature: It free-floats the barrel.Now, for the warnings: If you're using a standard AR15-type handguard, you will have to do some minor gunsmithing to install this part. The handguard cap and stock barrel nut need to come off, which calls for the temporary removal of the front sight base/gas block, as well as flash hider/muzzle brake (if equipped). You will also need the Daniel Defense barrel nut wrench to install the included replacement barrel nut. If you don't have the tools to perform this job, do yourself a favor and fork over a few bucks to your local gunsmith to avoid any aggravation.

To date I have installed this on 3 of my rifles, and I plan to install it on a 4th as soon as they are back in stock (supposed to be today, now it's pushed back another week).I have used DD rails on other rifles, but stumbled across this deal by accident after installing one for a neighbor. I liked how it turned out on his gun, and the rest is history. My favorite features include a barrel nut that allows you to set whatever torque value you want, the almost seamless transition from receiver to rail, and the QD mounts that are designed into it. Downside is the 4 allen srews to tighten it to the barrel nut. They are slower and more difficult to work with than the newer Lite Rail system, but you don't really have to mess with them once the rail is installed, so the other features make up for that.

Thanks to Larry Vickers, and the team at Daniel Defense, I truly found a M4 worth counting on. My Daniel Defense carbine came with the Omega 12.0. At first I was skeptical about rendering the bayonet stud useless, but I quickly appreciated the seemingly endless mounting possibilities this rail provides. The continuous top rail easily aligns true. Although disassembly is a bit longer (and requires tools) than the GI M4, I have easily mounted my red dot with room for a magnifier, laser, 120 lumens combat light, and bipod. With the extra length it affords me, I can comfortably employ this weapon with the vertical grip mounted in a position not interfering with the magazine, and have the bipod at a cozy, very forward position. The entire Daniel Defense platform feels great, because it is. I wouldn't hesitate to take this weapon system into combat, if mine had a three round burst selector position. It's made by warriors, for warriors, "AIR ASSAULT!", and keep 'em in the ten ring.

I ordered this last Wednesday and it was sitting on my porch today (Tuesday) after Memorial Day weekend. Once I opened the package, I couldn't believe how lightweight such a long rail was. I haven't installed it yet as Daniel Defense A4 uppers are still out of stock, but once I get my upper and barrel, I can see me installing this in a matter of minutes with minimal effort, and I'm no gunsmith either.All in all, if you're thinking about getting one, do it! Its worth every penny and then some and they won't last long at this price!

I like the feel of their handguard, oval. But the quality and strength is what you are paying for. I use a 25'' bipod for varmint hunting and a strong solid free floating handguard is a must. Installing requires a few specialized tools so if this is a onetime event use a gunsmith or friend with basic AR tools, but it is not complicated and once installed can easily be removed for cleaning. I feel it is one of the best.

Very high quality construction and workmanship. Did require removal of the front sight post and old barrel nut. Not a bad thing for me but something to consider. Not a super simple upgrade so for beginners it might be a big undertaking. Overall very worth the money spent and a fantastic product. I have used Daniel Defense Rails on two of my AR and love them.

This rail works great it's not too big like my previous one was and it extends out past the front sight giving a more secure hold on the rail I'm 6'4" and needed this. Also the rail being free floated made for better groups/accuracy.
