I love Dewey products. Everything I have ever gotten from them has exceeded my expectations. The stainless rods are beautiful quality and will certainly not scratch your bore if you use them correctly and are patient enough to take your time.

Simple and works well. The ball bearings in the handle spin freely and the rod hardly flexes at all. The threads are smooth and heavy duty, so jags thread off and on easily and the threaded tip doesn't get bent over time. Don't worry about a SS rod scratching the rifling. Even if the rod flexed and contacted the rifling, it would just slide along the rifling and won't harm anything (you do more damage with a bore brush). If the rod gets a huge gouge in it (highly unlikely), then it could damage the rifling, but so would a coated rod. I prefer SS rod.

I bought this rod to allow me to use a really tight patch to remove lead from my lever action silhouette rifles. My experience is that a tight patch will push the lead out faster and better than a brush will scrub it out. But to do so, you have to use a really strong rod, Ideally, it should be as short as it can be to still reach through the bore to the chamber. For me, this 25 inch rod is perfect for the 24 and 26 inch barrels I prefer.
